Ok then, what follows is my wip for the Tale of X Gamers competition. My army of choice is the Vampire Counts army of Abdemanechus, an evil Necrarch Lord. I started this army roughly a decade ago and got it to just over 1,500 points, however with the changes of the new book it has been cut to a little over 500 of ‘initial list’ points: I had a lot of zombies which I will raise now rather than place in the list, my characters were mainly necromancers whereas now I am using purely vampires and I am also replacing my Dire Wolves.

This is the army list I am aiming for and as I complete part of it I shall move it to the top of the list and mark it red. As you will see, at the start of the challenge I am currently able to field 546 points (entries marked in green) meaning I only have 1454 to paint, however such is the nature of the Vampire Counts that I shall need to assemble and paint ‘spares’ for certain units, and so these will easily boost my points over the 1,500 mark.

hey drax; have you thought of swaping one of your vamps to a battle standard w/war banner and go for the insane +9 static combat res option?!! (swap skellie banner for the banner of the endless nightmare)
always a fun trick to pull on opponents when they think they've just mashed you with their biggest, hardest hitting unit!

anyways, it's nice to see a fantasy army to add even more flavour to this event! so far i think it's mainly guard or marines of some flavour!

cheers guys - yeah i saw you suggest that the other day stitch, i might well do that,

the list isn't necessarily 100%, but is what the painting will be based on as it should give me enough for a range of setups.

Crikey... you've bought a lot...

Why didn't you do this on eithr you chaos marines or sisters? That way you'd have a completed army for gaming with.

because in fairness i started this army a decade ago and it isn't finished yet. and the Black Knights, Fell Bats and the vampire are old miniatures anyway.

don't worry krom, the rest will come - i find that painting fantasy stuff comes quicker than 40k stuff as by and large the imperfections can be hidden within a unit - and there are plenty of imperfections! i don't plan on this taking as long as until December thats for sure!

i shall be working on the sisters alongside this project

i'm tapping out of this one - i shall keep going at it, but it has become apparent that i won't be able to manage 3 objectives a month for various reasons.

if a mod could move it to the regular blogs section and change the title to 'Drax's Vampire Counts Blog', i'd be grateful

essentially i have most of my force ready built now, so i couldn't count that as an objective - i also struggled to get anything painted this month and in a month or so time i shall be painting my Vampire Lord general - i don't intend to paint anything other than that that month so that i can really take my time, so thats my two passes gone already.

but as i say, i shall keep going with this, and post up picks when relevant.

lol - thats my Strigoi vampie - i wanted to see what a blue vampire would look like.

he is just a stand in though, my ones are going to be all Necrarch eventually
