Dusk Raider's Death Guard & Renegade Militia WIP Mega Army - 40K Terra

Hey Everyone,
Well I've decided I'm going to start a WIP Blog on my two armies, Death Guard and Renegade Militia. My Death Guard army is a mix of old school and the newest (soon to be Forge World kits), accumulated over 6 years. At this point I have around 10,000 pts worth of Nurgley goodness, and after 5 years of playing with the generic green Plague Marines, I've decided to go different and paint them up in their original Pre-Heresy colors (albeit corroded and diseased) of white and green.
First I must tell you that while I love Nurgle and Death Guard, I'm not a fan of the over-the-top daemon and puss covered armies. I see the Death Guard as efficient Spartans, nothing flashy (even if that's daemon flashy), just pure killing machine. As such, my army looks more ancient and time worn, not daemonized and putresence covered (with the exception being my Defiler).
The second army is my Forge World Renegade Militia. When these guys came out, I was instantly hooked. However, I had made a promise to myself I'd build up my Death Guard army prior. I've started my collection around Christmas time and currently I have around 5,000 points worth of Renegade. My main reason for undergoing this new army is mainly for Apocalypse.
All those fluff-o-holics know that although the Traitor Legions number several thousand twisted Space Marines, their real backbone is the millions of Imperial Army (Guard) that had turned during the Heresy. Also, Imperial Guard companies are always rebelling and turning to the Dark Gods (who can blame them?!). Therefore, I've always imagined a large army of Death Guard, about 60-100 Plague Marines strong, accompanied and bolstered by around 100-200 Renegade Militia.
Although this had started out as a support for Apocalypse, it has exploded into a full blown army and in its own right an enitrely new force. The final phase of my ultimate Apocalypse army will be an entire Nurgle Daemon army, thus making a Death Guard Legion invading army. The final piece will be a Legio Mortis Warhound, which god only knows when that will come ($500... yeah). Without further ado, I'm going to include some up-to-date pictures of my custom Death Guard Defiler and Renegade Hellhound.

wow ! everything looks great. i'm really excited about the recent influx of talent surging through here. i'm looking forward to seeing more, especially since i don't get to look at many FW items ! the defiler is definitely a creative use of bits :]

The great Servo gods aprove of your displays thus far. That is some pretty sweet looking stuff there my friend. If you ever find yourself in Minnesota, let me know and I would love to throw some I. Guard at you to see what you are really made of... I will teach those Heritic scum to stop worshiping the God-Emperor.

Thank you very much for the comments, everyone. Brother Warchild, the paint scheme for which one? As far as the crust, I'm assuming you mean on the Defiler. That's actually sand glued to the hull, there's also extensive GS used. As far as the paint scheme for my Death Guard, it goes as follows:
Primed Chaos Black
Basecoat Bleached Bone
One Layer Flesh Wash/Water Mix 2:1
One Layer Brown Ink/Water Mix 1:1
One Layer Black Ink/Water Mix 1:2
Those layers are very important. You can do each 1:1, but you may lose the bottom color with the top. The reason for watering it down more each time is to make sure the dark colors go deeper into the recesses.
Drybrush Bleached Bone
Paint armor trim Olive Green
For the hull, I like to make sure there is SOME white visible, so I tend to use Reaper Miniatures Ivory color paint, wipe the brush off so there's very little on it, the I stipple the armor/hull/what have you.

The Renegade Hellhound was painted somewhat similar, at least up to the inking. After I inked it, I drybrushed it w/ a Reaper Miniature color called Griffon Tan, which I then lightly drybrushed the edges with another RM color called Mold. The rivets were painted using boltgun metal (I use a toothpick to get the small pieces such as these). I then used Chestnut ink, watered down, to give the rusted effect.

The Promethium tank on the back was done in another RM color called Volcanic Brown, which I then added Chestnut ink to the rivets (I did not paint these BGM). That's about it, from what I remember. Haha

Are you sure White and Green was the Dusk Raider's colors. I didn't remember them saying and I either read or created in my head an entirely different color scheme in my head. Your stuff looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing someone do a pre-crusade version.

Okay, I took more pics of my Death Guard... sorry for the quality, I'm using my cell phone. As for the Defiler, it was actually built using both a regular Defiler and a Vindicator. I wrote out some details on my Photobucket, but I can't stand the GW Defiler... looks goofy.

Mmmm. The Defiler looks kinda like a hermit crab. A big, nasty, filth-encrusted, death-dealing hermit crab! And the RM dude looks like the comic character The Red Skull. Was that done on purpose? Wicked stuff, fellow heretic!

Haha, yes they are on a gas grill. I get the best light out on the porch, but with the over cast today, it didn't work as well. It's not like its lit... I save that for servants of the Emperor

As far the the Enforcer, yeah... he does kinda look like the Red Skull. I didn't really mean to do that, I just wanted a paint scheme to A) Make him stand out from the grunts, and B) Show his dedication to not only Khorne but to ganking a disobidient Officer.

BTW, Baron... I think at some point once the army's done, I'd have to just take you up on that offer. I'm sure my Renegades would like nothing more then wasting some Emperor's Filth from Krieg, hehe.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate the feedback. Right now I'm in the process of putting together 20 more Renegades, so at this point I'll have around 80 Renegades. The Hellhound is just about done and next up will be my Destroyer! Also, I'll take pictures tomorrow of my Heavy Weapons Team for Squad #1, and my WIP Officer with Sniper Rifle (simple conversion). I didn't really mean to do that, I just wanted a paint scheme to A) Make him stand out from the grunts, and B) Show his dedication to not only Khorne but to ganking a disobidient Officer. BTW, Baron... I think at some point once the army's done, I'd have to just take you up on that offer. Right now I'm in the process of putting together 20 more Renegades, so at this point I'll have around 80 Renegades. The Hellhound is just about done and next up will be my Destroyer! Also, I'll take pictures tomorrow of my Heavy Weapons Team for Squad #1, and my WIP Officer with Sniper Rifle (simple conversion).
