Until the whole squad is finished! ! !

Note: The first dragon yellow is bit thick, I notice it.. and its my first trying out yellow so hopefully we can see better progress in getting it painted up.

While I do paint my 1st test, when I run through my 2nd one, I will show full W.I.P. pics and tutorial on how I do my stuff.

Not saying that mine is good, but I guess if anyone wanted to know how..

Not bad. Over all it looks like your paints could use thinning, not just on the yellow, but on the white (just a bit) and the orange (barely any, but it could use a bit).

This may mean multiple coats per squad, but the overall effect will be worth it.

Great work so far though.

I also love very much the blended orange+yellow flame look you gave them. Very ace.

Dip one of them and then spray prime it white, then try another test miniature. I think that with Fire Dragons the orange/yellow dominant colors lends itself MUCH better with white then black.

but for trying to cover black with yellow and not making it look green, it's very well done.

Yeah how stupid am i.. After thinking it out, I might just strip the whole squad and go white primer from there. I htink it would be easier that way. We will see though.

check out the painting tut on yellow. very nice and should help make that yellow smoother even on a black basecoat!!

Hazaar, another Eldar player!!

As said before, a little thinning is needed. Have you thought about doing them a different colour? I'm liking the orang I think thats coming on really well, I'm not to sure on yellow on FD helmets it reminds me of 1940s Fire men! But thats probably just me!

I have subscribed and will enjoy watching you build you r army!

As GriplionGremlin has already said, check out my Tutorial on how to paint Yellow. It's not a quick fix, and it certainly won't be easy, but DAMN yellow can be a great colour if you get it right

I think Nanolathe yellow is a bit warmer as well, which would help the overall effect.

Ikarus, do you think you can sneak some orange in on the helmets?

In thinner coats, the blend should look great

Will the black areas (weapon, grenate, pads) remain black?

Alrighty I'll check the guide out thxx

I will be stripping the other models and redoing them in white. I'll leave this guy as he is for comparison and reference. The black parts are going to be expanded upon, and the gems would be worked on too, and the muzzle for hte fusion will attemp to be burnt out.

i'm gonna play devils advocate here and say stick to the black undercoat. sure it makes doing the yellow a pain but you wouldn't have gotten those dark recesses on the body, especially the 6 pack, with a white undercoat. i like my minis dark and moody, and for that you need a black undercoat (unless you really know what you're doing).

That's easy to fix, use a thin black wash on your undercoat, it will fill in the gaps while leaving the top mostly white.
