Default Eldar Phantom titan

I dont ussually make a Project log when im sculpting or painting my tyranids
or other projects but this time everything is quite diferent.

I have acepted, last year, my most challenging commission work so far,
a very old and hard to get Armourcast Eldar Phantom Titan,
one of the biggest fellas i have ever seen (about 36cm tall) and my job
is to cover him by sculpting details on it since he is
a bit lacking on that area.

One of the main problems is that he is so huge im going
to spend GS like crazy on this, also the resin is full of
big bubbles holes so the cleaning alone will take lots of time.
but im quite exited with this crazy project, it will be a slow project
due to its gigantic dimensions and hard one to pull off right
but i will have lots of fun doing it.

time for pics...
By the end of january of 2007 i received this

opened it and displayed on the floor ( note that the grey dot near
his head is a genestealer miniature and he is there for scale prespective)

and finnaly a sketch i did for one of the shoulder pads
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9378/ph...shoulderom9.jpg

I also been sculpting this for some time and finnished both
shoulder pads and torso.

Here we go, just took some wip pictures of torso and shoulder pads, as far as im concerned torso and shoulders are finished but still im waiting for clients feedback, crossing fingers hoping he likes this.

torso front

Torso right shoulder

Torso left shoulder

Torso Back

a couple more torso pics

and

Wip pics of titan fully assembled (note that im starting to change overall positioning of mini, probably will bend front right leg to make it less stactic mini)

concept wise i opted not to put lots of hearts and instead one big one on shoulder pad also armour ornaments bends a bit with spicky vines idea ( even if diferent from the real deal on shoulder pad)

still a long road ahead^^

Amazing stuff, way to really bring the armourcast models to life, I especially like the heads on the shoulder pads.

haha i looked at it in the box and thought to myself "oh that's a nice model..." and then i looked at the stuff you did and i instantly thought "who was it again? OH it has to be navarro!" haha. excellent work, really. you took a model that looked alright by itself and made it truly beautiful.

excellent! :]

Very nice. I especially like leaving the inner half un-touched. Too often you see a sculptor that overloads the model with details, or just floods one certain area.

Truely amazing! Evertime I look I notice somthing new. Its so clean/organic as well, very Eldar.

Any good tips for working with greenstuff-especialy such large amounts for sculpting rather than just the normal small filler use! Or just sculpting in general as Im sure its somthing all of us have dreamnt of doing at some point.

Maybe you could do an article for the hobby section or the Inquisitor...?

Ok time for a small update to get you guys know whats happening to titan.

Both back fins are 90% sculpted i only need to add hundreds of spikes to the vines on both ( these spikes alone are giving me nightmares they are just soooo many so tiny)

in fact i was taking some shots of my workplace and you can check out one of the fins wip there...

i have done a concept sketch for arms (simple stuff) and before i showed client for aproval i sculpted them when spikes were curing
I just hope he likes them, its really simple stuff... my idea is not to make lots of details on ALL parts, this way mini more interesting and no so busy and boring.

i hope to take official pics soon when all done with spikes, lets just hope i dont go nuts doing them...

Still a wip pic of both of the fins but added arms and if you notice theres some spikes already on left fin in first 2 bigger bones...
I will take better pictures, with details and all, when these are finished so for now just general pics to show how they look in the overall...
