| Primer ![]() | Christmas is nearly here so I've decided to get an Ogre kingdoms army. Yes I haven't finished my Night Gobbo's or SoB's but I cant resist the temptation to get a brand new Warhammer army comprised of muscled thugs.Because I never do things by halves I was thinking of buying a giant as well. My idea is to paint him the same colour as my ogres and mold a Desolation/Devastation "scar," on his back using greenstuff as well as smaller tribal markings and injuries (sustained when he was beaten into submission by my tyrant.) I was also thinking of adding numerous piercings along one arm ,the left side of his chest and down his spinal cord. I might make him a gut plate but that could be a bit too tricky for me. I'll post some design drawings up soon so you see can what I mean and offer up any improvements or advise on making it. I like to give my characters names: I was thinking along the lines of Herbet,Donald or Samson for a giant ? Daria ![]()

| Hairy Hunter ![]() ![]() | Hi Daria Do you want this in the work in progress section. You can then use it as a project log to help motivate to get through the work? On the subject, this is sounding fantastic. Have you done much GS work before? There's loads of us about that can offer some tips and tricks to help you along the way.

| Hairy Hunter ![]() ![]() | Will do then. So the biggest and best tip for using GS is... Lube, lube and lube again. GS is particularly sticky stuff. Lube with either water or vaseline. Also mix in even quantities to begin with. Once, you've got the hang of it you can alter the quantities to have different effects.

Blog Entries: 1 | lubing with vaseline is all well and good, and works much better than water, but is a royal pain in the arse to remove before painting, especially if the gs work is a bit fiddly. the piercings are fairly easy to do, be they bolts or rings. just break it down into stages. first add the piercing itself ( a small roll of gs for a bar or a little ball of it hollowed out with a trimmed down toothpick/cocktail stick for a ring) then when that's dry add a thin strip of gs smoothed into the skin and tucked under the ring, or smoothed into the skin on both sides for a bar. remember to have a camera handy when you do it, we will be wanting pics and maybe a guide if it comes out well ![]()

| Hairy Hunter ![]() ![]() | Daria... In fact you must detail a full step by step n pictures. You could go with making the piercings with a bit of plasticard. Just a thought to make it simple, but effective with the tribal look would be to have them look like shards of wood or metal. That way it's just crafting some PC into sharded splinter things.

Blog Entries: 1 | Woot, go Daria. I find GS a royal pain in the arse period. I think your piercings should be ok to do. I look forward to your pics, you are a good painter so this will be a good thread! I cant wait for your drawings, it wont be long until you have a nice back log of minis to paint! ...welcome to my world... |

| Primer ![]() | ![]() I'll list the things I've drawn to try and make it easier to understand: Left Arm: A ring of hooped piercings around the arm and at the top of the shoulder a cross shaped scar. Right Arm: Three scars along the biscep. Head: 2 scars running from the back of his head to his forehead and the left hoop earing attached via a chain to a nose ring/hoop. Left Chest: 3 vertical spiked piercings. Left Hip: 4 piercings (horn shaped) Right Hip: A long vertical row of small blunt ended piercing and further right 2 scars. Belly: Two sets of three scars and a large scar which means means 'slavery,'in ogre. The paint scheme at the minute is very simple, the giant will have the same skin colour as my ogres and all scars will be painted in a slightly lighter pigment. The piercings will either be brass and silver or a mix. ![]()

| Primer ![]() | Okay, Basecoat, Graveyard Earth and Shadow Grey mix, lighten with Kommando Kharki, highlight Bleached Bone. I think they're lots of other ways as well just depending on what shade your after so I might do a couple of testers first.

| Nice sketch Daria, I had no idea you were such an artist. ![]() Heres an idea, why dont you make the peircings part of some sort of restraints? You could have chains dangling from them and what not.

| Primer ![]() | ![]() Here's the first pic of my giant. I know its not identical to the sketch I made but green stuff is a tricky little devil. So far I've greenstuffed all the join lines, stuck an arrow and wound on the cow, added scars and piercings to the front of the body and tied up the running villager. His facial scars look a bit Kratos? (the guy from God Of War?) but he's not looking too bad so far. Next to do is his back piercings and scars, then Im not too far off from basecoating.
