pva and baking soda. first used a paste of the glue and the soda and then added a bit of soda sprinkled on top for that powdery look.

ok dudes i have to dispell a misconception here...the gs isn't flawless. there are some glaring flaws that are obvious when seen close up, its just a decent paint job and some shoddy photography cover them up nicely

Fear not hairy, the GS is more than adaquate.

You have a sculpting tool right???
I've been trying to get my hands on one for months but they never seem to arrive on the boat from china.

I've seen what Ides uses for GSing...It'd look more at home in an evidence locker.

and I have two of them now...

BOT

you can always write off bad GS as battle scars/dented plating. I imagine drunken brawls wouldn't be too amiss for SW...

so modest! though i do know what you mean. skillful painting can even mask some GS flaws.

though they really do look good in the pics, and considering that photos normally make models (and painting escpecially) look worse than in real life, great work!

you do know were gonna be dying to see your characters now

well the scouts are gonna be next based on the fact that i already have them. i will need to get a box of assult marines to be able to realise my ideas about their wolf guard though, which means waiting till another payday comes along and gettin to the hole-in-the-wall before the whyf does

i'm thinking about doing the priest after that, but i might just leave him til i have all the rest of the infantry done. the more practice i get before tackling something as important as a character the better!

ok so i've just finished #3's armour, just have to fill in the fine details. i'd probably have had the whole squad finished by now and started cuttin up the scouts but for the fact that you people have been so bleedin interestin of late! i can't tear myself awar from the keyboard for long enough to wet my paint brush.

so it's all your fault really

ok, so i'm here seeking help again...this time with scouts. i started working on them this morning and have one awaiting gs at the mo (would post a pic but the whyf has hidden the digicam) happily the catachan arms and scout shoulder pads work very well.

i did start work on a second one, in a kneeling position, which seemed simple enough at the time, just make cuts at the knee and hip, reposition, add some gs and away we go. guess what..i ballsed it up royally!!! so i now have a pair of legs in 5 seperate pieces and no idea how to put them back together in the pose i want.

any suggestions?

EDIT: nevermind, after 2 hours of truing to get these poxy legs right i've given up on the kneeling idea totally. i've never been so frustrated with anything, including computers

lol!

poor guy. ive been in that situation before! id say if you can salvage the feet just GS them yourself, using cadian or catachan heavt weapon trooper legs for reference. your GS work is good enough to manage some fatigues, im sure

as to the arms... what travesty is this? catachan arms shouldnt see the light of day! lol. though really, id love to see a pic to see how they look on the scouts.

are they truescaled?
are they wolfified?
are they plastic?
are they nice?
am i sane?

in order of you asking; no, will be soon, of course, at least one wasn't, not even slightly

i'm sure i could manage the green stuff, its just gettin the freakin bits in the right place first. i came dangerously close to stabbing my thigh with a needle file out of pure frustration! i might come back to it after i get the others done but right now even thinking about it gets me all angry.

EDIT: mwahaaa, i found the camera!!! firstly, more of the same.

heres the first shot of the scout awaiting gs.

and one for scale comparison.

yet again the legs look great!

and actually im surprised the scout looks so big nect to the marine. theyre a good size i think. we can assume their ossmodulla hasnt given 100% yet

though their shoulder pads look tiny, possibly die to the catachan arms. might i suggest the normal marine under shoulder pad instead? its a bit bigger than the scout one and doesnt ahve that annoying groove thing in the front

marine pads would be a little too big i think, and the groove dosen't bother me too much. there's a good chance it'll get green stuffed over anyhu so meh.

just making sureL i dont mean the actual pads, i mean the top part of the arm thats shaped kind of like a pad. its not much bugger than the scout one and i think it would look better on those huge arms

just an idea

if you mean the bit i think you mean (the bit that the pad sits on) then its actually quite a bit smaller than the scout pad.
