Its a little harder to use with the termie pads as there's filling in to do too, but overall they didn't turn out too badly. So...leave him or change him?

Those are under construction at the moment but I'll see what I can do... planning on going over the legs once more anyway, then sanding them all down...

I'm planning on giving them another layer of GS later to smooth them out a little and bulk them up before I attempt to plan any decorations...

well I have two sets of legs left so that should give me five plus brother salvageable... one will be armed with the autocannon from the IG heavy weapon sprue and I'm working out how to pose it...

Well at the moment I'm using a combination of spacers and metal tacks (small nails used for panelling). I find it lets me be a little more flexible when posing them. As for GSing the legs, I usually press in a small amount of GS around the spacer, let that cure, then start shaping the legs. It's usually easier to just cover the whole plate than it is to fill in and sand to shape, especially if the legs aren't lining up perfectly.

how exactly are you using the tacks? hadn't seen anyone mention using them before. so far for spacers i'm using dc's idea of the round pieces of sprues.

so was I, only problem is if you apply too much pressure smoothing off the legs the spacers snap off again, So I decided to try that. Its basically pinning the models. Just drill two holes both halves of the lower legs, a few mil deep, cut the tacks to size with a pliers, insert one into each hole and adjust as needed for size/evening out. Done right, it gives you a little twisting room with the segments and adds a lot of strength to the joint. Hell it almost looks like cheap bionics without the GS...

as for another update:

Thickened his legs and am working on robes for another trooper.

Compared to normal marines, or even smaller TS'd maybe, but compared to a regular DP...hmmm dunno. As it stands Brother Thandon (above) is head and shoulders taller than my other TS marines. Might need to scale it up even more for a proper DP and use every thing you could to make the model look bulkier than it is, from robes to defiler masks, and so forth. My local store has (or had last time I checked) a DP in stock so I'll see if I can compare.

I'll also put together a comparison shot of the guys I have so far. One of whom is looking a little shook since I gave him the basics of a set of robes...
