Also trying to think of what to do to make the skull helm stand out more and not look so damnably ... 'flat'. If I could tell the difference between shining and burnished gold on the model (yay crappy vision) i'd try some highlighting on the gold. I may yet, as the storm bolter casing where it is gold is suffering from that same 'blah' style syndrome as the skull helm. Would a red like the cabling and shoulder pad work for the crozius haft and storm bolter casing (black primed and burnished gold respectively). I've always liked the soft red calfskin/leather (well.. from the Faire side of it, it's an integral color to my Liege lord, so it's grown on me) but I am worried it will blend too much with the current model. I do think the casing and haft of the crozius should match though, to help tie things in. More pics whenever I can get more batteries for the cam.

Blog Entries: 5 | That's actually the Apple Barrel brand 'Cardinal Crimson' color. It took 3 coats or so to get to that stage, but mainly because I over thinned the paint, and didn't think ahead and primed the model black, then basecoated the shoulder pad area in Chaos Black.. >.<

Blog Entries: 5 | Again, the edit button broke.... But here's some more pics.. Looking at it, there's a bit more tidying to do, but I don't want to proceed any further until I've found the colors for the crozius haft/storm bolter casing, and a method for making that skull helm purty. I know the lighting ain't the best, but i'm looking at a lighting studio kit we have at work for $20 or so to help out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() EDIT: I'm thinking of getting a book (closed) to lay at his feet and carving from GS or PC the 40k Terra symbol, and then using waterslides to brand the spine/cover with 'Terraneus Praetor'....C&C there?

Blog Entries: 1 | Pic not quite as clear, but the stuff you have done has made huge improvements, nice one, the metal has improved hugely really good job. The red on the shoulder pad is really nice!! As with the armour (I dont think it essential) but did you try the highlighting backward thing?

Blog Entries: 5 | Skull is done, as is the collar. Even managed to get the eyes lookign a bit better, and have done a read leather haft on the crozius. I may highlight it or some such, not sure. I tried highlighting the armor, and wasn't happy with the results...

Blog Entries: 5 | I'll try it some more tonight.. But I think the points of all my brushes but one are going, and the lines seem too thick to me when I make them.. and where should I highlight on a termia? Should I highlight the patches of armor between the tubing on the legs too? I did a bit of highlighting on the red shoulder pad. Whil not the best, it's ok for the first go. Also did a bit more work on my dreadnought, and once I get sealer, the last remaining piece of my Emperors Children, and my first model ever, will be done.

Blog Entries: 5 | Thanks.. I do find however i'm having trouble keeping the eyes and teeth on skull lined in black to help them look more than just white blobs...The white paint seems to get into the places I don't want it to no matter what. Any tips for keeping that from happening?

Blog Entries: 1 | I think they are fine! You have a lot 2 paint, come back if you feel you have to. It's a solid paint job.

Blog Entries: 5 | my suggestion, dry brush em but wait about 10 mins after you pour your paint to let it slightly dry before you do it. makes it a lot thicker (sometimes wookie thick paint is good!) it will run far less.

Blog Entries: 1 | very nice my friend, easily the best paint job you've done to date. the skull helm is looking much better now it's got some shading. i particulary like the parchment and the gold work. for the teeth i'm gonna fly in the face of conventional wisdom and say don't water the paint, or only water it a little bit. this'll stop it running into the crevaces. you were right about the shadow seer, stunning! the missus certainly has a steady hand, that would have challenged me! and just what is that supposed to mean, steven?!?
