I do believe that is one of your torsos. Gonna use the Lightning Claws and other torsos you sent soon, I'm replacing two of my first termies, because I rushed them, and I'm not happy at all with them. I don't know if I can do anything about the squat look, but I kinda like his bulky look. I may add some spikes and stuff later. Probably do that on a good deal of my termies, but I don't like them cluttered up too much. The Heavy Flamer turned out pretty well, didn't even need to glue the wire (which may be too small, imo). The GS work is terrible, but I'm trying to improve. I really need a smoother. My main problem with GS is I tend to add too much. I'll get a side pic and see if you have any suggestions. Also, Hairy, I'm gonna print off all the painting tips I can find, so I can get to painting. I hope the primer I picked up works well, might test it tomorrow if the weather permits.

Yeah, I got one or two early models I'm gonna test on. I'll use some junk bits to try the primer. Citadel primer is kinda expensive, I paid $2 for the Kilz Craftcote. Hehe, your BL tut was the first thing I printed off. I'm gonna try to go back to work next week, if they will hire me back. If not I go find something else. That way I can stock up on painting supplies. I pretty much have all the models I have to build my full army of Black Legion exactly how I want, except a Land Raider (which I hate building, but gotta get another for Abby) and possibly some Oblits. I just don't know if I have the skills to covert the Oblits like I want them. Anyway, I can pick that up later down the road. Right now I'm working on the last Slaanshi Raptor, then I got Bikers, Bezerkers, and Chosen to finish building. So I'm running out of models to build, time to give em some pigment! I'm excited about painting, to tell the truth. I know I'll make mistakes, but that's why I will do test models. If I only had another silver and maybe a red, I could do a full BL paintjob on a test model. Weather permitting, I'll try the primer tomorrow. Maybe I can borrow some paints from my ol chum. I got decent brushes, so I'm gonna pick up some good ones when I get some cash. It's killing me, this painting bug. Up until recently I was too scared of ruining models to try. Now I wanna grab the bull by the horns!

Whoa, got this one done pretty quickly. Pretty happy with it too, only real problem I had shaving was between the fingers of the right hand. Again, sandpaper saves the day. That's the last Raptor, although I may pump that anti-tank squad up to six if I can get ahold of a backpack. I decided not to use the shield. My wife and friends said the shoulderpad with the Slaanesh symbol worked better. I not really sure I agree, but still got the shield, so maybe I'll make the Slaanesh squad 12 men strong, if I can get the bits.

Just tried out that primer. So far so good. I love the black, it's dull yet satiny. Perfect. Let's just hope I don't have an LC experience with melting primer! I primed the Terminator I'm going to replace. Now just gotta get some more paints, or use a bit of my friend's. I have Chaos Black, Shining Gold, the basics for Black Legion. I need a white, I have an Apple Barrel red, almost maroon, I might test. What other colors should I use? Should I post a pic of the model and get you guys to help decided what colors I need?

Thanks man, I really worked hard to make them look nice. I'll be glad when the termies are done, they are a pain to shave, but I still love building them, because they look so cool. Now just gotta paint them, and I just opened a package from Brother Warchild, and he hooked me up with about 8 bottles of AB paints! Holy smokes Batman, I may get a brush wet tonight!

Holy cow, I still got so much to build, and TONS to paint. I gotta finish building those Nurgle Bikers, the Bezerkers, a Tactical Squad, and the Chosen. Sheesh! Right now I'm working on a termie, it's looking quite cool. I think I'll work on the Bikes or Chosen next. The termie I primed was one I was gonna replace. I didn't realize how primer covered mistakes. I was totally unhappy with the shaving I did on it, but looking at it primed, it looks pretty good. Still, I'll probably paint it and trade it off.

*Edit* Momentous news! Did DK actually dip a brush in paint? Why yes, I did! Don't laugh guys, it's still in the very early stages. Having real problems with the gold, wants to run and not stick. Any advice? Oh, that Kilz primer is awesome. I'm having trouble with yellow, too. The Tau head (I think I cut it off in the pic) looks terrible. I used a mix of Citadel and AB paints. The eyes are AB, as is the skull.

finally! 13 pages of grey plastic and finally we get to see some paint!

looking good DK. the base colours are nice and neat which is probably the most important stage of painting. just a few details to pick out and you've got youself a good table top quality mini.

not too sure how to go about solving your problem with the gold (maybe use a bit less water if you're diluting your paints?) but for the yellow try to paint the area light grey before using the yellow paint. yellow has a weird kinda transparency that doesn't work well over a black base so you need to put in a little more leg work to get it looking right.

can't wait to see more

Sage advice from a true vet!!

As far as the paint not sticking your in the "cheap primer paint" zone buddy. It seems to repel the paint almost. here is what you do.....thin down black brus paint to like a thick wash and wash it 1-2 times. this not only covers the missed areas from primer but gives the spray more "grip". I know as I live in the cheap paint primer zone -Home depot $.79 a can!!

Yeah, it's Shining Gold. The primer is a bit satiny, so that might be the problem. Dang it, I forgot to wash it with Chaos black. Thanks for the tip on the yellow Hairy. I worked some more on the skull, it looks a lot better now. Also touched up the eye lenses. I need some better brushes, only have one good one, really, and it's very fine. Hmmm. I don't know how to fix the black wash problem. The gold looks a little better now, but not much. Hey Hairy, when I get done with it, I'm shipping it to you. I'm gonna replace it anyways, it's just a testbed, really. Thanks again for the tips guys. I love painting, weehehe! Just need some more paints and good brushes (and to remember to wash with black first!).

Hehe, I don't belive in that sentimental crap. I'm sending it to you, my friend. Besides, you can look at the real version and give me some pointers. I've almost finished the shoulder pads, I had to hit them with a fine grit sandpaper, the paint another thin coat. I lost the little square in the left one, dang it, I wasn't paying attention. Oh well, live and learn. Is there anyway I can thin it now that it dried? The Tau head is a total loss, I tried some of my wife's arcrylic art paints, didn't work at all. The skulls look pretty good now, still need to touch it up. The hoses on the LC are a pain, really tight in some spots, I guess I'll have to get some silver on the black, then touch it up with black again. Painting the kneecaps gold too. I'll post a pic once I tidy it up a bit.

That termie would looked a whole lot better if I would have done like Munky suggested, but I completely forgot to wash it in black. Oh well, live and learn. At least I'm tryin! Holy cow, those other termies are gonna be rough to paint. I may try my hand at some power armor soon, when the termie is finished. It's funny how different a model looks when you start painting it. It kinda, I don't know, comes to life. I got the skulls looking pretty good, and all that is really left to do is touch up. Pic soon!

Well, the Termies are all built, just gotta add some spikes and accessories. Still got one to replace, as the first painted one is going to my Wookiee friend! I'll worry about it later though. Here's the last one.

Also, a little progress on this one.
