Blog Entries: 1  |  Silver Tower of Tzeentch well i'm doing this thread to go along with my entry for the current weekend challenge "Make it BIG". so i've been thinking about the tzeentch silver towers for a little while wanting to do one. this was my chance. here's the stats: http://us.games-workshop.com/games/4...r_Tower_sm.pdf here's my starting pic:  and with the towers attached:  with additional bits and some rocks and flocking: front  rear  right side  left side  primed (still no tops yet)  not quite sure how to do the tops. i do know i want the main cannon on the top of the main tower. not sure if i want smaller guns on the other towers or not. i'd like to do more bits on the towers but i'm scrounging now and not coming up with much i like......

Blog Entries: 1 | Re: Silver Tower of Tzeentch here's a pic of the old epic mini for your consideration... silver tower you can see the guns poking out if the towers themselves. but how's this for a twist...what about not having any guns at all but instead representing them with sorcerors? you could have a few individual sorcerors dotted about the ground level and a lordly looking guy surrounded by a cable of lesser thrall wizzards on top of the main tower for the largest tower. just a thought  what are you gonna do for the base/mount? are you gonna try to have it kinda floating above the table, with the under side modelled to look like the thing has been ripped out of the bedrock? that would be such a cool look!

Yours looks very much Earth-bound, what with having sand and rocks and stuff on the base... I think the towers are a great start, but you should have gone for a base structure more like Cloud City or something. R. |

Blog Entries: 1 | Re: Silver Tower of Tzeentch you know i've been thinking more on this and i'm starting to think i made the base too big. trying to figure out ranges would be a real pain in the arse!! i think i'll bring them down to 1 spire per baseand i'll take Hairy's ideas of using sorcerers as the guns and i really like the idea of the towers being ripped out of the ground (hense the rocks and grassssssss!) i'm not much of a fan of cloud city. the towers are being held aloft and move by sorcerous powers not technology. at least mine are.

| Re: Silver Tower of Tzeentch i read the datasheet when it came out and had an image in my head of a tzeentchian Dark Elf Black Ark sort of thing! like hairies idea basically. have a smaller base made of a half hemisphere of terrain foam, then cut the bottem so its like bedrock! then you can get a clear plastic rod and secondary base to show it floating around. im subscribing to this one, looking forward to your progress! i also like the cabal of wizards representing the weapons. (weapon destroyed = wizard killed )

Blog Entries: 1 | Re: Silver Tower of Tzeentch yeah i'm gonna try to make "windows" around the tower with a platform for the wizard and magantize it so the models stay on securly and i can remove them when needed. i'm trying to see if i can find a bunch of cheap fantasy wizards to represent the thrall wizards to do this. perhaps from reaper, whfb or something. i think i have 1 or 2 now that i can get started on.

Panacea Cemetery Vase Plastic Stone Product Detail -- CreateForLess Maybe not the first thing you think of... but they make for very nice curves for all things sorcerous. I used a set of 4 to make an Eldar Webway Portal terrain piece... but I have no pictures of it at the moment. Good luck, mate. |
