So the Eagle Keens (An Imperial guard Project log!)

The rain was falling hard on the trenches, but Trooper Sangus didn't mind it. It was more the sound of pulse-rifles being fired that put him on his toes, especially since they were being fired at him!

Gripping his autogun tightly, he peeked over the trench-top and then ducked as a shot tore his helmet off.

Shivering, he fastened his bayonet as he watched Sergeant Decun rev up his chainsword and scream," Over the walls!"

Pushing himself up, Sangus charged over the mud and sandbags, staying low and firing wildy at the xenos, and as he turned to look back he saw the trenches were empty as all of the mn had charged forward, screaming," The eagle protects! For Schlachtfeld! For the God emperor!"

Hello and well met! I am Colonel Marbi Chora, a massive imperial guard enthusiast and painter/modeller for about three years now!

See, the thing is that I have allways wanted to at leas finish ONE imperial guard army, but I tend to get sidetracked, or I decided I don't like the colors anymore. It's an attention span thing, I guess, or a lack of follow-through. Either way, I am fed up with myself, and I have finally decided that a project log could probably keep me working on my current project for the longest!

So, introduction aside, I now present my idea. If you read the short quip at the begining, you MIGHT have a small insight to what I want to do. But beware....

It is bigger than you think...

I'm planning not just one guard army, but THREE!
Yes, three! And a list of them!

1. The Schachtfeld 88th- Your simple Imperial guard Army, based totally around Soldiers and Basilisks. Nice ranged fire!

2. The Schachtfeld 111th- An Ariel Assult Army (AAA=111 ^^) that will be comprised of stormtroopers and veterans. Hopefully I will be able to get a Valkerie as well for them!

3. The Schachtfeld MDK- The Military Disciplinarian Korps, thi army will use veterans and commissars, along with soliers from the Witch Hunters Codex!

And there you have it! In the future there might be a tank army, but I have a very high suspicion about tanks, a very odd thing for an Imperial guard commander. But hey, I love the guard models!

Throughout this log I will not only develop my soldiers and the armies, but the backstory as well! So for those days that I run out of guard models (Oh the horror!) I will post up some stories and history for you to sink your teeth in.

very cool fluff at the start, and some cool looking guardsmen. i take it your going for Autoguns over the humble lasgun?
as for for the whole army project...your nuts! 3 armys!? im hvaeing trouble wioth just one! but im sorry to hear that you get distracted, that exactly what i dont want here i want to see where you go with this, it should be seriously interesting.

3 armies at once huh? that's an undertaking of erus proportions i can already feel the 'Stick connecting with my skull!

you got some good fluff hashed out there colonel, looking forward to seeing it develop. and i'll be wanting closer pics of thos autoguns when you get the chance, and maybe a bit of an explanation on how they were made

Yeah, I very musch dislike the "Flashlight" jokes, so I thought that the sound of a "blam" would scare my enemies more then "Zzzap". I mean, apparently Tau are afraid of lightning, if the Infantryman's primer is correct!

Anyways, about three armies, it's because of the paint scheme. I tend to get sidetracked very easily, and my current army is in many different colors. So I thought it would be best to do more than one, if just for the painting process.

Hee hee, the fear of a very large stick is known to us all, from other hobbists or siblings.

But thank you! I've been working on this for a while, and I think that it might do well. Right now the MDK (Military Disciplinarian Korps) is the most detailed. They kidnap and conscript when recruitment rates are low!

And on how the autoguns were done, it is very simple. It'll post some kind of tutorial some time soon!

And to all of those who left other comments, thank you! And I hope i'll finish it too!

Allright! Another update!

So I finally picked a color scheme for the Schachtfeld 88th, the main focus of my log right now. I am not so keen on the clothing, but I rather like the armour.

And now, pictures!


I messed up on the arm and the part under his belt, but then again, the model is not done. I just want to showcase the main part, the armour and the clothing.



I'm probably gonna keep the armour, but probably change the clothing.

Allright, I decided that for now, this would ahve to work for the Schachtfeld Military Disciplinarian Korps. This is the story of them. Soon I will have the bloody history of the planet!

Ordos Name: The Schachtfeld Military Disciplinarian Korps
Also Known As: SMDK
Homeworld: Schachtfeld Beta
Designation: Military Police
Biography: The Military Disciplinarian Korps of Schachtfeld are an organization leading back to one of the most bloody times in the Imperium's history. During the Horus Heresy there was a great and bloody uprising known as" The Great Purging" to the modern Schachtfeld citizen. A massive revolt lead by elements of the Alpha Legion saw a great attack from mutants directed towards the clean citizens.

The planet might have fallen if not for a mysterious man known only as "The Saviour" who rose up and lead the loyalists against the mutants. After this event he went on to establish the Military Disciplinarian Korps before disappearing to join the Loyalists at the Fight for the Imperial Palace.

Since then, the SMDK is famed for it's hatred of mutants and rebels, quickly putting them to the sword and flame. Many of it's members are drafted for duty as commissars in the regular Schachtfeld armies. They are butal and fierce, many keeping a record of how many cowards they have killed and what the names were.

For those who are not drafted, they find themselfves as recruiters and politicians, whose job is to convince more men and women to join the IMperial guard. A more shadowy ocupation has to do with recruiting- when the rates are low, conscriptions are autorized. When The conscriptions fail, they go into the night with bands and kidnap men and women to force them to join. If the kidnapee's still refuse, they are brought to the town square, where they are locked to a large Aquilla and stoned to death by the crowds. Thus is the fate of cowards.

In battle, the SMDK is a brutal force, smashing into their enemy without fear, guns roaring and men screamign out the chant of All Schachtfeld forces...

"The Eagle keens! For Schlachfeld, and for the emperor!"

Anyways, I usually get into arguments with my friend over backstory. He gets mad and demands an explanation on why it's important, and since he plays chaos, I bludgeon him to death about the horus heresy

Merheh, another update!

Allright, I have been lazy for the past couple of days, and not much work has been done. I've gone over some idea's for the 88th and the backstory of the Schachtfeld system, but the only work I have done is

A. Create pictures of the planets in Photoshop during class

B. Finish Two guardsmen. One of the same color scheme for a better look, then another as an old color scheme I had been saving for this.

And now, to appease all that have read this, I post pictures! Merheh!

Oh, why thank you. And YES! BULLSEYE! It does mean battlefield, I spent an entire afternoon looking for a good name.
