hmmm, well aside from covering up the power cabling at the front, all you really need to do is hammer out the torso shape and then bulk up the legs, but don't put the exposed piping on it. If he had it modified, then have it look like he put in extra armour and purity wards or something...

and would it be easier to make it out of a shoulder pad fom a CSM or a SM?

now here, do you mean like the steel braces on the legs and arms of normal termie armor ? or do you mean the tubing stuff on the torso that i've already got ? [like underneath the chest plate] i'll try to find a way to remove the chestplate tubing, but we'll see about the braces for now. i don't know how i would make that...i figured i'd deal with the 'pseudo-truescaling' of a pair of legs first :]

damn man, you really rock that gs hair! (although it might have been wise to have done it after the torso was finished).

i can see where you're going with the termie armour now. i think what you need to do now is square off the the top bit of the armour above the hood type thing. close study of a terminator will help if you have one. might be worth widening the torso a bit before you do, maybe add a piece of plasticard to each arm bit and then adding gs to meet that level all round?

the pipes on the legs. (and the torso, I guess, since not even the mk 3 termie armour has those showing...) If you are building up SM legs from normal to termie size, its a lot less painful to skip over the tubing there and yet still keep the tassets.

graaaah anything but metal ! lol i actually am enjoying this conversion quite a bit, even though i'm not sure what to do right now on it. i'd prefer staying in mostly plastic as well, so i've been working on creative ways to make out of plastic and GS the things i need :]

over the psychic hood thing i intend to construct an entire other section of armor, to reflect the "double hood" that termies have.

[taken from the USGW website] but note the "second hood" over the first, more rounded one. so i will probably use plasticard or some similar stuff to create that, along with beefing up the torso which has been on my to do list :] the exhaust vents on the back i'm not sure how to do yet either. but i'll figure it out when i get there :P

as for the piping on the legs, we'll see. i'll probably do the pseudo-truescaling before i even consider it though...how much length do you reckon i should add to the legs ? a few millimeters ? 4,5 ish ? perhaps ?

what you are going to do is take five pieces of PC at least, abd use those to make the frame at the back. For the second hood, draw an outline of the first on PC, cut it out and adjust it to fit.

right, that's what i was thinking. i'll see if i can throw a sketch together on it...now question: sinc ei lost my only termie model [okay, this was 5 years ago, you'll have to excuse me haha] is a termie model a LOT bigger than a PA model ? maybe i'll have to borrow somebody's to check the size difference..hmm. i'm thinking i should add maybe 3 millimeters to each section, meaning both thighs and shins ? :]

armourwise, yes, the plating is thicker, as are the arms, but the torso is roughly the same width.

It's, in miniature terms, damn near the same. You can even use power armored torsos for termies!

ah, blast...the arms and legs will likely be my biggest challenge, what with making them consistent [ie, the same on both sides] and sufficiently large enough to convey termie status without towering over a space marine [which fluff wise would be wrong for my inquisitor, he and his brother are both not so tall, but more well built for their size.]

sorry, double post: this is what i am planning to do...relatively soon if i can :]

umm sorry my handwriting is crap, and on top of that it didn't scan well, EDIT: i rescanned it...now it's all pretty and in color and legible ! so it's a little hard to read. the sketch [however crappy it is..haha] shows what i've got in dark pencil and plasticard/other additions i have to do on the torso. tell me what you think ! and as of right now, i think i will mount the arms only slightly higher than the arm circles indicated on the power armor...termies look a little too hunched for my taste, but i'll decide when i get there.

it's actually pretty easy. to tell you the truth, i just looked at hairy's pictures from "howling at the moon" and then winged [wung ? lol..what is the past tense for wing?] it from there.

what i did was give him a "swimmer's cap" like really thin layer of GS around the area i was going to hairitize. then i made really, really, really thin worms and pressed them into the swimmer's cap, smoothed out the join with some water, and repeated like 5, 6 times. theni used my nails to make the hair part down the center, as well as the clarify some strands of hair...pretty simple really. i did it in maybe 20 minutes before going to a wedding...so it can be done relatively quickly ! :]

EDIT! okay so i had this idea. because i have 12 khorneheads somewhere in my army, pretty evenly dispersed, i eventually ended up with a couple extra "running/charging" khorne legs. turns out, a little reposition and BOOM they become a towering pair of legs. i'll let you look at the comparison and make judgements for yourself :]


now, i'm thinking that i could use this for my inquisitor ? takes out the trouble of having to truescale the legs, right ?i'll just add some ornamentation or some such, like the bars on the chaos termie legs. i'm not sure if i actually want to do the pistons that ides was telling me about...we'll see. :]

haha it was a combination of the air scenter at my local hobby shop and the fumes from the assorted paints and glues sitting around their work table :P

but i think it would save me a lot of trouble...but does it look too skinny ? i think i should add extra stuff to them and bulk them out, more like this:

like the bars on the back, but have them on both the thighs and the calves ? i'm not sure how else i would bulk it out AND simultaneously make it more ornate...ideas ? i could try some more GS work, but i can't guarantee the success of that :P

okay guys..and girls. i sincerely apologize for not posting for a long, long time on this thread. it's cause of school...really. i just started my major and the workload gets crazy sometimes. i've been able to post here for a little while everyday, but rarely do i get the chance to actually do builds/GS/painting.

BUT the good news is : FINALS are this week, and i'll be finished by thursday morning. i'm putting in a bits order on friday at the local game shop, will hopefully PLAY my first game with this 1.5k list there simultaneously.

a quick question: those of you who might happen to have the metal BA honor guard assault marines box set, does the techmarine model have any amount of BA iconography on him ? for my expansion to 2k i am going for a tech marine assault dude along with a pair of dreads, i think :]
