HMMMM..sorry double post but i'm not sure how steve worked it out, but however i calculate my VDR twin plasmacannon dread, it comes out to a staggering 160. i think i'll still take it :P haha
i'll have to figure something out though..hrmmm
hopefull i'll get some superglue today. huzzah !

okay, haha triple post ? anyhow, i've been busy lately and haven't gotten to as much 40k as i had hoped, alas.
but having been inspired by steve's VDR posts, i finally wrote this up. picture to come, he'll be magnetized so i can use him when people don't want me to use VDR rules. :]
tell me what you think, if he's too broken, too expensive, too...anything, really.
please also tell me if you can't read it, i can attach copies of the text because i typed it up and i can also type his stats and special rules if necessary. :]

i'm thinking this will be my conversion contest entry, but it will be a while until i can physically get a dread and plasmacannons...blast !

2 Plasma Cannons sounds nasty. Makes me wanna build a Chaos Dread and equip it with PC and roll lots of ones! Guarantee something will die (most likely my CSM!). Stupid Crazed rule, lol.

lol sorry wakim ! umm in case other people want to read it, here is a slightly different [the facts are the same] version of both the fluff and the rules:
CEPHAS THE ETERNAL VIGIL
Having led the Night Hunters Space Marine Chapter for nearly 300 years, Chapter Master Cephas fell in a massive planetary assault on the chapter’s home world of Triptychus launched by the Tau Empire, now known as the Age of Golgotha. After recovering the horrendously injured body of a barely living Cephas, the chapter’s apothecaries and techmarines began work on a custom build sarcophagus for the venerable master, allowing the super human to continue to wage war against the enemies of the Emperor.

Using a pair of the chapter’s most revered heavy weapons, a pair of truly ancient plasmacannons, a suitably ornate set of dreadnought armor was fabricated and blessed for the crippled champion. Opting to relinquish his position for a fresh Chapter Master, he passed the Hunter’s Sickle, a pair of master crafted lightning claws, and the Hunter’s Guard, the Chapter Master’s artificer armor to Brother-Captain Augustine. This sacred equipment, second only to the legendary Queenscythe, were ritually blessed and personally bequeathed to Augustine in a ceremony that doubled as the reinitiating of Cephas as Grand Master Cephas, the Eternal Vigil.
Now serving as high advocate in Augustine’s Assembly, Cephas often appears in battles beside Chapter Master Augustine, leading from the front, keeping watch over his younger brethren and dealing harsh judgment against the enemies of the Emperor.

smoke launchers
extra armor
drop pod
counts as 'venerable'
tank hunters

special rules:
counts as venerable dread: does not fill the 0-1 venerable dread slot of an FOC
tank hunters

additional info:
when unnecessary, cephas may opt to begin a battle with the rest of the army, forgoing his pod. if so, cephas' points cost is amended to 145.
cephas the eternal vigil may only be used in games of 2000 or more points.

well i've tried VDRing him, but it turns out being a heck of a lot more expensive than i would like, and i also can't really add things like venerable or tank hunters that way, so i opted to do the way GW suggests apoc datasheets are made: guesstimate and recorrect...that's why i want to get this guy done and on the field :P of course, i also want to get him started so i can use him for the conversion contest !

Okay, the SM Dreado sets are plastic, and the plasma cannon arm, is sadly not in there. >< which is majorly annoying as i take it all the time, only as a count as. anyway, you can get one easily, from FW and do both the L and R arms. so less conversion work. ^^ thats got to be a good thing.

yea i'm pretty sure there are plastic plasmacannons in the dev box...problem is, i'm a bit low on cash, so i'm probably gonna ask ikky if he can help me out and get me a sprue or two..do the heavy plasmacannons [ie, both of them] come on one sprue ? or are they on separate sprues ? eww i hope not

anyhow, yea i ordered the dread today...my visa didn't work so i paid cash, blargh.
i also got a job at school :] and applied for another job at apple, so i'll have more spending money, huzzah ! and i have superglue. expect pictures soonnnnnnn :]

sorry for this double post. i was asked for some "digital goodness," and feeling up to the challenge, i made some stuff. none of this fits in my army, but one day when i have more than 3k i will finally be able to field all three [and a few other guys] of these models as the masters of the chapter :]

so say hello to my little friends:

in case you are wondering, one of my chapter's main enemies is the tau, hence all the tau trophies and weapons :]

and here is brother-captain _________,
master of recruits. i'm not sure how else to bulk him up. unlike the other guys, he's just kinda skimpy right now, but he has the signature grenade rack and lightning claws to go along with it, and some nice tau trophies in the back

and of course, a shot with the chapter master, augustine, whom you've seen before.

soon to come is cephas, the dreadnought previously mentioned and custom made [also, he'll be for the conversion contest !] who will be master of the watch, because according to his fluff he guards and leads the fortress known as queenscythe

i just don't know about master of the fleet yet. i suppose i could throw in something else, some other title because none of the official apoc masters have specific rules other than traditional/customary weapons [ie aquila axe and storm shield for master of the watch, thunder hammer for master of the fleet, etc.] any thoughts on that ? i figured i could do something with like a techmarine as one of the masters, but i'd probably have to make some rules for that and i don't like straying too far from the rules..

*EDIT* correction: there are rules for each of them, each of the masters gives a special tactical asset, and the formation itself requires 1 each of a chapter master and command squad [check and check] a master of the arsenal [check] a master of recruits [check], a master of the watch [almost check, lol] and a master of the fleet [errr...nope] so i guess no techmarine master then :[ haha

Unless you wanted to expand the points and add a 5th master in true Apoc style! Given the divergent nature of your chapter, I see no issue with it..

hmm, tentatively, i don't know if i want to modify the formation itself..hmm
you know, i might add some more points to cephas' points cost in order to have him count as a master of the watch, because models that are a part of the master's formation count as captains i think [ie, they can lend their leadership to anyone on the field, etc.]

any suggestions though on fluffing out the master of the recruits ? [the dude with lightning claws and a banner stacky thing]
