Default W.I.P...FINALLY, r4wr!

okay, so it's likely that most of you have actually not ever seen my models...in fact, one of the co-owners at my local shop was beginning to question the existence of my marines ! well, to prove him wrong i finally brought them out, and decided it was suitable for me to start a blog on my army.

the plan is to really start filling it out. initially i had planned for 1000 points, and had FINALLY reached that goal, only to look through my models and realize that i could shoot it up to 1.5k without buying a single model ! so, naturally, i began remodeling some of the marines and such to fit into my planned 1500 point list.

i want to have my models painted up and completely WYSIWYG by sometime late september, because i want to get some more serious gaming down by mid october and hopefully start playing in some tourneys at my local private shop by late october to november..hopefully with all your input and support i can make it there ! :]

for now, i'll just show you all the army list, and the state of the models as it is. keep in mind that i began painting a LONG time ago, and since then i've had numerous army changes, weapon swaps, arm and backpack exchanges, and a bit of GS work on the side as well, so many of my models are partially painted and then patched up with some GS.

a little background before i start: the night hunters chapter are based on a tiny planet off the fringe of the tau empire, and thus are often found fighting tau and bearing tau and kroot war trophies...an encounter with an alpha legion force outside of medusa v [on the way to the campaign-my excuse for why i didn't play in it ! lol] led to grave casualties among the chapter, amounting to the death of nearly a third of the chapter. all chaos casualties were scrapped of their armor and armaments, and are now found among the marine's weapons and inside the chapter's armory.

some sort of feral urge is rumored to hit the chapter upon reaching battle, though it has yet to be explained. inquisitor barbaris kasparov [who is said to be a close ally of the chapter in question] has yet to release anything on the rumor...and kasparov and his retinue have yet to be completed. pictures of the inquisitor & retinue will come soon :]

i can hear it now, to the pictures already anthony ! here we go. army list is included for convenience ! :]

Wow, thats really cool. The models, even for their lack of paint, have a lot of character. Are all those different bolters, the drum clips and ammo belts, from the new chaos sprue?

ohhh thanks guys for the replies :] hmm. i don't know how soon i'll get to painting. it's overcast today so i definitely won't be priming anything, and i've got some homework to do, but i might do a few details, or some GS or whatever, we'll see...

Quote:

no actually, they're from the old chaos 8 model box. very affordable ! although i really want to check out those new chaos marines.

and sorry DC that they didn't load. i'm including the direct links as well as the embedded photo from now on...speaking of which i thought i would keep you all entertained.

this is the inquisitor's retinue as of...like 2 days ago. i've done a minor set of adjustments but nothing too major, no completed models, GS, or painting really yet...but soon :]

well, here goes:
this model here, with the HB, is currently standing in as an HB bearing space marine, but i've been considering converting the HB into a nice beastly psycannon. i also use the SM parts because he's got power armor: i've been having trouble thinking of a way to convey power armor without using an SM model, because he's just too big. fluffwise, he's supposed to be much more compact...

but for now, inquisitor barbaris kasparov, [counts as lord]

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...r89/40k026.jpg
psycannon, CCW

the current inquisitor model is still under question...should i use him ? i think he's just too bulky -_____- but he's ready to be inquisitorized, if you'll notice the custom backpack he's got, soon to be hooked up with some sweet wiring details...hopefully!

warrior henchman 1:
IG vet, plasmagun
and
acolyte/interrogator [he's the headless one! lol]
"storm bolter"-i don't like how the double khorne BP storm bolter turned out..sigh. maybe a weapons change for him ? hmm..
i need desperately an eldar guardian helmetless head. obviously it wouldn't be right for him to have an eldar helmet. fluffwise he is supposed to be rail thin and pretty tall, so the guardian model fit well..just some de-eldarring to be done. and probably a cape!

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...r89/40k028.jpg

warrior henchman two:
plasmacannon skull servitor

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...r89/40k030.jpg
and

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...r89/40k029.jpg

fun fact: the plasmacannon was painstakingly taken from a DA metal model. the wiring was taken from assorted electronics chips. an old phone, if i recall correctly...the skull itself was salvaged from a khorne berserker head. i'm not sure i'm too happy with the skull itself. but hmm..we'll see

not pictured [ie, no model for them yet]:
2 sages and a mystic [astropath]

cheers! c&c welcome :]

lol WHAT is that ?!?! haha it's hilarious.

okay so i started looking around for potential models for the rest of the inquisitorial retinue.

i'm thinking of these, what do you all think about it ?

sages:
i need two. here is what i'm thinking for one

i am thinking of using the "medicaler" on the far right. the point is, i need a female model, because i have one sage of each gender. i don't know about the second sage yet though..suggestions ?

as for the mystic [astropath!]
i might use this guy, the dude with bolter in the center. with a few changes...namely a buncha wires into the head, and replacing his sticky thing with a sort of stick with an orb on top.

thoughts? :]

Its the cherub from the witch hunter ret. you posted above...
thought the gun looked a little small!

2xflamer heavy, bolter, chainsword bayonet, ammo box, and bitz from razorback.... also molded a big "pair" round back... hence the name.
Had planned on using him w/ my Eisenhorn inquisitor fig. *after the gun, it just looked super rediculous standing next to 40k figs*

Wish I could help you w/ Inquisitor prob. but never played =][=, mainly Neccys, Trannies, and DA's.

lol that's an awesome conversion gregor.

just FYI. today's not rainy, so i'll probably be priming the rest of the army in the late afternoon, leave them overnight and begin painting tommorow, real early like.

be on the lookout for more pictures ! i'll also put up a pic of the daemon prince of the alpha legionnaires that i converted. yes, the arch-nemesis of my chapter...

really quick though...do you guys have a recipe for painting cloth and parchments [ie seals, tabards, etc.] that'd really help !

:] cheers

redemptionists are cool for retinues, though not too sure theyd be good to represent mystics

EDIT: im more of a fan of the cybernetic stuff like servitors and freaky imperial administratum guys that are half machine half biological a.l.a admech.

theres some cool retinue models to choose from

what theme were you looking for?

well theme wise i'm kinda going for the eisenhorn type. less augmetics, but sleek and cunning more. the freaky necromunda guy looked cool, but i'm having second thoughts about him.

one major thing though, is definitely nothing inconspicuous. thus, i guess the redemptionists are out. although i may end up using some models from house delaque instead, definitely less freakish looking: look here namely, i'd be using the second guy from the left on the bottom row. he's got kind of a coll gunslinger effect..

on second thought, yea the redemptionist is definitely out. i like the necromunda enforcers as well..like this here...the first one on the left of the bottom row especially catches my eye.

problem though, without heavy conversion both of those models will still look like gunslingers, but i need a male sage and a mystic...hmm...

i do also like the freaky psyker dude here but he seems a little too creepy to be traveling the with retinue, which i envision being much more sleek and covert-ops like. plus, i imagine that he's too weird even to be an astropath ? what do you all think ?

this guy might do though, for a mystic, but he's a tad expensive at 12.50 a pop....thoughts ? :]

thanks for the feedback too. :] much appreciated.

the primaris psyker and witchhunter psyker are great retinue models

im not too keen on the delaques, though i for some reason i dont like necro models in retinues (dont get me wrong i love necro gang figures, but something in me doesnt like the idea of retinues + gangers, dunno why)

how about the FW psykers?

yea i'm considering the primaris psyker now. th eonly downside is the price, he's kind of expensive. i think i can get a decent discount though, from connections :] lol

hmm..well i'm already running a necro model in the retinue, she's the model with the fatty plasmagun on the first page. i don't know about the delaques, but i'm also liking the enforcer models...

hmm..

forgeworld psykers? i'll have to check them out, but i haven't got an online payment method so i'd have to order with my local store. i'll check it out though, even though i'm not a big fan of resin models...depending on the price, we'll see.
thanks dc!:]

*edit* UGH does the FW site load hecka slowly for any of you guys ? lol
*edit #2* DC, do you have a model name specifically ? i did a [relatively] quick browse through the FW site and found only a chaos rogue psyker, which was waaaaaaay too chaosy and not stealthy enough...which model[s] were you talking about ? :] thanks!
*edit #3* just kidding about priming today...just as soon as i say it's not raining today...haha. welcome to the northwest, eh ? lol

hmm yea i saw that model in my FW skim. i'm not too keen about it though, it's a bit more eccentric and, well, freaky than i'd like. hmm.. i may end up sticking with one of the necro enforcer dudes, with a quick hand and weapon swap, and the psyker from the witchhunter retinue.

painting commences ! :]
thanks for all the help too.
