Default Forced Image Resizing

Is there any way to stop the images posted from auto resizing? It's just a little annoying that, pour example, I have to open a new window to view some photos that accompany a tutorial... thus taking me away from looking at the tut and into a new window with only the pic.

Is this a result of the photobucket hack for the site?

Hmm. Maybe we could have a button in the thread, saying wehere Auto-Resize should be turned on or not?

I will try to disable this new resizing and get another resizing that will only do it on large images.

I love the image resizing. It hasn't shown any bugs with me yet.

It's not a bug. I just don't want it to happen on an image that's already small, the quality goes and to get it back it MUST be opened in a new window. a hassle to say the least.

Maybe only on images larger than 1024px wide?

Hey now, the forum tables are coded to only be so big. Even an 800px-wide image would stretch this thing to hell and back. If we set it to just 1024px or larger, it would almost defeat the purpose of the feature in question.

We have to factor in two things here.

First, the size of the forum tables on the screen.

Second, the average screen resolution on a standard PC (1024x768).

From there, we figure out how large of an image is too large for the everyday browser.

We could either make it ignore everthing below 500px width or make a "turn off image resizing" button.... or both

I'm for an off/on button preference, personally.

But also there should be a "safety net" feature for images that are just blatantly oversized.

Or... we could just post a tutorial to show people how to resize images, which seems silly in the year 2008! Massive images due to resizing ignorance was sooo '90s!

Customization and coding an on and off button is something I cannot do. I can just install a integrated system that would resize the image. Speaking of smaller images, if you put one, I don't think the image resizer will resize it even smaller? Or does it?

It only shrinks them to the size of the table it's displayed in. It doesn't make an already small image any smaller, it just makes oversized images fit to the table.

I like the image rsizer and it has not bothered me in the least. It allows me to decide if I want to look at something closer or just satisfy my curiousity with the smaller image. If I wanna see it better I'll click it in a new tab and look at it more, if not I'll just blow over it.

I like it!

Is it still posing as a serious issue at the moment that I should try to work on? Or is it just a minor issue that can be disregarded and all will be fine as is? Just lmk. It seems to be fine to me..

Well I vote that it's annoying. Everyone else doesn't seam to care though.

I'll be a lot of work to make only one person happy, so I guess I'll just have to stay quietly annoyed.
