| Primer ![]() | Maybe it's me... or maybe its not. But there seem to be lots of people joining Terra who aren't actively contributing anything to the site. I don't want to appear harsh but new members should HAVE to at least post up an introduction of themselves when joining (so it would become compulsory). If a new member remains post-less, after a set amount of time they should be deleted ( say 2-4 weeks as I'm in a generous mood ). If someone wants to look around and has nothing of value to say they should remain as guests and not go through the membership process. I'm not saying make membership as difficult as possible (as that may put some of) I'm just saying the first 2-4 weeks could be classed as some sort of probation. That way we can sort the wheat from the chaff

| Primer ![]() | (Starts searching for whip) Just let me loose on the Terra newbies, I'll whip them into a posting frenzy . I know deleting them would be futile, but eventually they might get bored of re-making an account? What about the probation period I suggested? Is that unworkable? Or a more complex membership form?

| Primer ![]() | Perhaps I'm just being unreasonable, it just really irritates me. Maybe its because Terra is one of, if not thee best 40K/Warhammer forums out there and people who sign up and never post are missing out on becoming one of us. I don't think there's a much more friendly or unique bunch of gamers out there. (Looks at cattle prod in disgust) I refuse to wield a cattle prod, no one has ever looked good wielding a cattle prod. (Picks whip back up) Plus no sound quite matches the crack of my whip ![]()

| Each Shot Kills Spam (She never misses) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You see its like this. You get users who are interested in the game and just want to learn you have users who like the gallery and wants to see new models, or want to develop their hobby skills so they read the stuff Or you ahve users who use Bartertown, and want to increase their output so they check out our site too since we have a trading thread. Im not complaining about new users who dont because, I think they are one of the best Simply because of this. When you get an increased member count, you become more appealing to advertisements/sponsors. When that happens we get more money (and the cycle continues) Further more since they aren't posting they dont gumble up out site with more and more posts. Not that Im saying our post counts isnt a bad thing its GREAT. but Im just saying its not making more space. |

| I think Steel cpt said it best. Simply put, bigger member count means more traffic, more traffic means more adds, which mean more money, which means more cool stuff for us, plus more traffic... and we already know were that leads, right? And he does have a point, if every member who joined up posted 100 posts (not a lot really...) the we'd have... WAY to many posts. Its hard enough managing this forum with the number of people have now. Imagine if this site had 500 regular posters, all of which posted 3-10 posts a day... thats like 3000 posts every single day! Scary, no?

| Patron Saint of Leicester ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't think it's a law that one must post in order to be a member of this site. Sometimes, people just don't have anything to contribute. Maybe what they had to say has already been said by someone else. Who are we to judge the intentions of others, based on the lack of posts? In that case, I'd be kicked off Bartertown. In 4 and a half years, I've made 212 posts. I have a trade rating of 148. I have been here for about 3 months and I have made 64 posts, including this one. Iv'e been a member of the Alarum YahooGroup (for GW players living in Florida - pay attention, Lord Marcus), and I haven't made more than ten posts in five years. Sometimes, you just don't have anything to add to the conversation. Don't judge someone by the lack of posts. It very well may be that you really don't want to hear what they have to say. Be thankful. Ever seen the marks left by a cattle prod? Reckon not. Ever seen the marks left by a Stun Gun? Pretty much the same as a cattle prod. Pretty darned nasty.

Blog Entries: 1 | Whip? Prod? Nah. I say knives "big, shiny f off knives, show them that we mean business. Guns for show, knives for a pro." Or better yet, pigs "feed em to da pigs, Harold". Wow, why do I love those movies so much? As for members who don't post, I have the home addresses of two of them (my best pals, hehe) if you want them! Use something a little more... hurtful than a whip though. Ohh, cane switch! Seriously, if members join and don't post, they really are missing out, but it's all gravy to us girl, cause the site benefits in the end.

Blog Entries: 1 | If this had been in action when I joined, I'd be gone. Didn't post for 3 months.. ![]() I understand your point Daria, but as MoW said, it'd get CRAZY in the end. The forums would become a mess... I'd rather have a few inactive members than that. Thanks

Allow me to disagree ![]() Cattle prod, stun gun, iron knucles, bat, chain and in some inventive cases: barbed wire (i`ve seen it happen) don`t leave permanent/long term marks. Yeah, it hurts, yeah it hurts a lot more that most would think, yeah you`ll get a lump or 2 or 20 and some dead tisue/bursted blood vessels.... but they go away. I live in a bad neighbourhood in a pretty bat country i know how it is to be beaten or beat someone to a pulp i`ve also whitnessed a lot of things and studied about a lot more and i`m telling you whips slice through your skin, the body most of the times can`t handle slices. Pierces or lumps, yeah, but not slices.I`ve had a roll of barbed wire hug my legs once (long story) and even though plucking every single barb out was rather nasty, i have to marks what-so-ever. I`ve also saw how high voltage can turn my skin black and make my hand numb for a somewhat long while (i was a kid, and there was this wire i had to touch because it was just standing there). On the other hand a 2 inch skin deep cut has never healed (acutally more than one, but hey, who`s counting). So Cattle prod YEY whip BOO :P OFC there`s the posibility of the victim being extra sensitive. Now lets move to more contructive methods of motivation, like a better blog system and other sneaky things that i`ll only tell Ikky about

Blog Entries: 5 | In My Opinion... Either way its a bit hars, 'tis generalising. There are some forums where if your post doesn't affect the time space continuim. You don't post at all. They could be following that habit now. I posted whenever possible at first but now I don't tend to do so as much. So deleting the accounts or penalizing new comers will not do a thing. If anything it will cause us unneccesary angst from angry people/parents for deleting their accounts. So it is worth leaving them. They don't cause any harm. So why should you even give a damn quite frankly.

Blog Entries: 2 | We don`t ![]() Other people do ![]() My concern (and ikky`s) is simply getting more active people here. If the number of inactive people also goes up, it matters not ![]() Also Zeb, we still love you and don`t judge you on your post count.... well, at least i don`t.
