1000 Sons, Pre-Hersey - 40K Terra

hey guys,

i'm running a Pre Heresy 1000 Sons army, based on some of the Gw books and art within. Color scheme is scab red, ivory and gold trim, i quite like it!

the discussion part is based around contstruction;
i used no divergences but use 2 libririans to get the "socerer" feel.

27 tac's with bolters, 3 sgt with bp/p fist
5 man dev, 3 missle, 1 las
ven dread
1 speeder

we've been doing a 1250 event in one of our stores that doesn't have alot of space, thats why the lesser points for construction.

I'd love to hear any of your ideas

hmm... pre-heresy Ksons can be hard, since I think having every vet. sarge being a pyker is good, but you can't do that in Codex: Space Marines. While at the thing is, the 2 wound thing doesn't work with pre-heresy Ksons...

From what I see in models, I can see a decent army. But, I would like a proper list before I say anything else.

the 1K sons only have 2 wounds after the Rhubic turned the armor into automatons the first wound lets the air in the 2nd would allows the dust to blow out of the armor and then it dies LOL
but for real i think the only challange is all the vet sgt psykers
after all they were just spacemarines before the heresy

well to be honest during the horus herresy the thousand sons legion showed the most potential for psyker marines. these marines were grouped together into the librarius and were a seperate identity compared to their fighting brethern aka the tactical squads, etc. the librarius was divided in any way magnus saw fit with his one eye. so of course your not going to have 1 psyker per squad especially in the begining when their wasnt that many in the first place; just enough to attract the attention of the higher ups.

however yes i do see the need for the 2 librarians as your hq. umm hang one let me look at the horus heresy collectors vision book to see what they manly used.

alright mostly according to fluff they were never that great at hand 2 hand so range firepower is your friend that and the way of the psyker. concentrate alot on the heavy weapons and quick moving units. i also do like their war colors of the old legion and would have liked it very much if they had stayed loyal.

have fun with this project and lets hope we will get to see it relatively soon

ah i see. i agree with this decision, there really aren't any traits that would make this army obviously 1000 sons, but with the right colors and mention of pre heresy 1000 sons it really shouldn't be a big deal. :]

not bad...i'm not so well read on this but i don't know about the land speeder. it doesn't quite fit with the later incarnation of 1000 sons, since they seem to rely mainly on numbers and such, but i could be wrong. other than that, it looks pretty solid. the ven dread is a little pricey but i think it will earn its points back. purely gamewise it looks fine to me though, you're running 34 infantry models i think, running around in power armor for 1k? looks good :]

actually i dont think the 1k sons ever relied on numbers in their battle r4wr89 according to fluff when the primarch magnus was joined with his legion they only numbered 1000 also i would suspect that all those sons killed on prospero would happer them having a large number of actual marines in their army.

I'm seen a couple of the painted 1k marines snowdog is planning and they really look good. I do got to agree that the land speeder is a bit out of the fluff, but they are usefull. Maybe go with rhinos making mobile shooting.

other than that, I hear his ideas everyday and they are good.

the entire amry is based coated and i've just started detailing the units.

I'm looking at 1 Terminator Lord or 2 seperate, just not sure yet!
I got the new Termi libririan for a conversion i did

i'll post him over in the mini's section

They look good so far...
I think you need more Scarb iconography and a bit of gloss varnish for the armour.
In the horus heresy artwork they had all this nice shiney armour...

Definitely a bit of gloss armor... I'll look up the method i'm using for my black saints, it's on the GW web site though. That and a bit more scarabs and such, mainly on the sergeants.
