Default 1550 point gaurd

this is my army list I use for home games. it is a 1550 point list or so would like some chritism if I can get it.


HQ heroic sr officer
carpace armour
refracter field
plasma pistol
power weapon
whatever that redeployment metal is called

staff
flamer
missle launcher

commisar with master crafted bolt pistol
power fist
honiferus impralis(or however you spell that
whatever that redeployment metal is called

anti tank support squad 3x lascannon

9x storm troopers
1 meltagun
1 grenade launcher
sgt with power weapon hell pistol
10 meltabombs
vox

tech priest
signum

5 serviters
1x multimelta
1x ocmbat servitor
3c tech

I would drop the Commisar. Unless you use multiples they don't due much.

Due to the Mixed armour rules don't bother with the armour upgrade on your HSO.

With your points freed up from those choices I would invest in a master-vox caster.

I hate Tech Priests, they are a vairly big investment in points and die quickly to enemy fire. Besides they never fix anything any ways.

Where are your Heavy weapons in your Basic squads? this is where I. Guard shine is the shear number of big guns they bring to a fight. Find room for these. I personally love Autocannons and Missle Launchers.

Same question goes for specail weapons. Grenade Luanchers FTW!

This is pretty standard. I don't see any worries here.



I Guess I would just recomend more Troops and use your strength of being able to throw down numerous amounts of Heavy weapons and specail weapons.

That is my two cents,

thanks part of the problem is that these are almost all of the modles I own with exception of a 5 mand ratling squad I was consitering investing in some heavy weapons and making and fielding at least one or two platoons instead of the tanks but I worry about mobility sense chances are they are not going to be deployeed in a bennifecial possition.

as for your infantry issue I was consitering expanding the current platoon the 5 squads and getting a conscript pplatoon4 squads as well. although at this point I may include in squad heavy weapons when you use them you either loose the ability to fire or loose the ability to move. as for flamers I find it difficult to get them in possition to be useful and not get killed in the process. grenades are a good idea. Ihave a bit deficency with them though as i used the three extras I had to make home made heavy bolters

I guess the reason I feild the serviters and techpriest is because I have a lot of tank investment and with 3 servitors it is only a 3 to fix. but perhaps a squad of hardend vets wold do better maybe ogryns to balance out fire with a little CC ability. what do you think

Limited on models hey... well lets see what we can do.

I would switch the Heavy bolter from the AF squad to one of the non-mobile infantry platoons. If you want the AF to be a combat support then I would give them a Vet. Serg and a little bit of a bite in the form of Power Weapon and Bolt Pistol.

I understand the temptation of including a Tech preist, but in my experience they are sweet looking models, but don't preform that well. Now in Appcololypse battles that is a different story...

Harden Vets are always a great Choice. The ability to out fit them with so many special weapons and choices is great for flex ability and adaptiablity. Choose wisely with these guys either go all heavy weapons or all Assault weapons you want them to either infiltrate to a great firing position and stay put or skirt the edges of the enemy line and take out vunarble week spots in the enemy lines.

Ogryns... well I have never really been a fan of trying to incorperate Agressive CC into a Guard army. And that is what Ogryns scream to me BEAT YOU IN THE FACE! so I stay away from them. The AF squad that you have should do quite nicely for a defensive CC unit that can go where the enemy tries to brake through your lines.

+++ never mix weapons with these guys... we're not space mainres which means we should never try and multi-task because we really can't! specialise! it's what the guard is all about. go with 2 meltaguns and look into tacking one either infiltrate or deep strike soas to get these boys closer to a juicy target!
also drop the melta bombs as they're way too expensive - just give your vet sergeant melta bombs from the armoury...+++

+++ if you want a servitor support unit, then add in an allied daemonhunter inquisitor w/psycannon + 3 gun servitors + 2 mystics. much better than the horribly expensive techpriest.
also, IIRC, his servitors count as wargear so you're way over your 50pts limit!+++

+++ take the honorifica imperialis instead for a 2nd Ld9 bubble...
also, those command squads can be kitted out to fullfill any gap in your army... for example, 3 plasma guns + vet medic = MEQ death!+++

+++ your voxes are 100% useless as you need a vox in the command squad for the system to work. anyways, i would never rely on a vox network as they're foolishly easy to cripple!
get some heavy & special weapons into those squads as well. 10 lasguns won't kill much... they need the support of things like grenade launchers + heavy bolter/autocannon+++

+++ lose the vox & swap the heavy weapon for a special weapon. as these guys are transported, they're far too mobile to get any real use out of that big gun!+++

+++ i'd lose 1 tank and get some more bodies + weapon upgrades. sure 3 russes are imposing, but 3 lucky glancing hits can silence them... the true strength of the guard is in superior numbers. if you don't outnumber MEQ enemies especially by at least 2:1, then something is seriously wrong!+++

it's not a bad list or anything, it just needs some re-arranging and a few add-ons... basically, you're short on boots. consider the fact my 1500pts drop troop army consists of 100 models which also includes an allied inquisitor lord + retinue & assassin!
you don't have to gunline or anything, just try and see if there's any way you add-in another 20-30 bodies to get your model count up!
