Pretty solid list, I think. I was going to say you need some anti-tank, but I supposed all the missiles and powerfists will keep that under control. Nice!

Nice not normally a fan of a HQ over about 110pts but this guy should rock and if/when he joins another assault marine unit that will then be the uber-unit of death.

hmmm I'd suggest extra armour on this guy- the landspeeder have got speed on their side to avoid enemy fire and the whirlwind can use its range and indirect fire to stay out of trouble but this guy has to get up close and personal to do his damage so you want him to be able to move and fire as long as possible

Sweet- I prefer shooty lists myself but I do love assault marines, with this many AND furious charge I dont think theres much that cant be handled.

I do love devastators, possibly my favourite unit- these should make a dent in anything coming there way. with the whirlwind these are going to be a horde players worst nightmare.

Well the only change I'd suggest would be the extra armour on the Dread (not sure where your going to get the pts tho), otherwise its a solid list, if a little vulnerable to mechanised Tau lists (firepower + manouverability= you needing luck + good strategy)

just out of curiosity...what weapons outfits do the dread and speeders have? its kinda unclear at the mo.

the tactics that spring to mind seeing all those sniper rifles are good on paper but might not work too well on the table. firstly you can only pin 3 units per turn max, the rest of the enemy force will still be coming at ya. secondly you ain't garenteed a pin even if you do get a wound as they have to fail a ld test as well as a save. it's leaving a lot to chance even with 4 rifles to a squad.

having said that i wouldn't let it put me off, its a cool theme and a nifty little list.

well for troops my chapter only uses scouts and i thought that the snipers sould be perfect compliment to the assault squads

and this is just a starter list as ill be buying a HUGE force mostly unassembled and unpainted so its easy to tinker around

but i wanted a more take all comers type of thing, while still being fluffy and true to how i wanted it (aka not power gaming crap)

for me 40k is all about the fun and history behind your army

maybe you could talk us through the tactics you intend to use? and by all means give us some fluff for your chapter. why only scouts as troops and assult marines rather than tactical squads? these are the things we need to know.

i love their fluff and my chapter is a second founding RG.
you have a pretty good list and for 2k the missle launchers and dread should be enough anti-tank, though extra armour on the dread is a must.

That's always the impression I got.. You could always use the Raven Guard rules, pretty much the same as yours, but you could take Shrike (vicious!) and even his retinue (the wing) for a tasty set of 5 LC's + jumpack, and a 6th which each claw master crafted!

It's actually allowed, encouraged, permitted and the like form GW now, given it is a SUCESSOR chapter using STRICTLY codex/trait system of their parent chapter.

DA codex. They now officially sanction the use of Special Characters, renamed and they also encourage you to make your own model, for successor chapters.

Yeah, you're not supposed to use the same name anyway. But your name idea is a good one, especially if you don't like the Latin craziness. GW does make up a lot of their own "Latin".

i'm assuming these guys are to soften up squads before the assaults get into CC, and for long range support once they are in CC ? good choices.

yay for LS tornado. definitely my favorite variation. again, the assault marines are nice. maybe if you can, squeeze some flamers in there, if you ever get some free points ? just a thought :]

yea it seems pretty well balanced. a lot of anti-tank, as well as a good amount of CC oriented squads, which will give you some tactical flexibility in terms of whwat you want to shoot at or assault.. :]

also, YES. raven guard is literally perfect for this army. the whirlwind and dread might not fit in so well, but so many assault marines and infiltrating scouts. i think it would go nicely as a raven guard successor chapter...and as for taking shrike, maybe, if you wanted to rearrange some points. as for his wing, i'd probably wait until 2500, even 3k before i'd consider the wing...they are SO expensive. deathly powerful though ! :]
