500pts combat patrol

okay, quick and simple, a 500pts army, using the 400pts combat patrol rules, EG: no HQ no more than a totla of armour 33 etc etc. okay, ist alittle themed as there meant to be Red scorpions, also, i wanted to try something ewn nad ive thrown in a choice i dont usual use at all. bikers, any where lets see what you make of it.

Tactical Squad
X6 SM's, Meltagun, Apothacary SGT with Plasma pistol + power weapon

Tactical Squad
X5 SM's, Plasma Cannon

Biker Squad
X5 Bikers, X2 Plasma Guns, X1 attack bike with Multi Melta

Total 505pts

Well there it is, im alittle over, but im sure you can get the idea as how this list is going to play. anyway, anyone see anything wrong with it? anything that could be changed? and why?

drop the plasma pistol on the apothecary and hav a plasma gun in that squad, if poitns allow bolter-melta combi would be best for apothecary.

As you know i use them a lot and to have one wielding a plasma pistol is just a point waste, i tend to gear them up with pwr wepp, melta bombs and maybe bionics.
Plasma gun would be more worth it with the apothecary as you can save the shot that overheats unless you lucky enough to overheat twice. In fact drop the pistol altogether as well as the meltagun for a plasma gun.

Bikers! with plasma! waste. Drop it give them summat more fun like err FIRE!!

i really dont think combat patrol is so much fun, theirs is NOT much at all that you can put in to it so y dont you play a lil biger game, it more fun (in my opinion)

and that is the exact reason i like combat patrol. its makes yout think more as you have less units to just throw away. besides, the games are quick, and more often than not things can go wrong in very spectacular, But seriously funny ways!

in my opninon in larger games, yes you have more stuff, and more expensive stuff that is big and shiny...but, at the end of the day, I personaly, enjoy small games, thier more tactical, espically if you play the missions. i know in 400pts its just kill everything and VP's but if you add objectives into the mix....it becomes that more complex, and makes you think that much more about what your going to do with your very few units (well, that is if you play anythning in power armour.)

Defiantly, i love small games like 1000 because they make you realize what one single unit can do! but combat patrol is just a little to small for me, sry; i like missions tho

Hell yeah. I totally agree with this. I remember a 500 Pts game, Capture and hold 2 turns. Fun as hell. I lost, but spectacularly. Took the objective, held 1 turn, then realised his plasma cannon was in range, and it melted half the squad holding the objective. My other Tact squad was fighting off being flanked, and the scouts were doing what they do: Fleeing.

Back on topic, It's a good list, especially with what Petey said. Though why the multi-melta? =l
