My tactics are to keep Mortifer & his squad in reserve, and deploy the scouts outside of line of sight, but near to, a key squad, then deep strike them using the teleport homer.

I'll deploy Imperiosus within line of sight of enemy armour (or a Monstrous Creature), and use the Multi-Melta to it's full effect, while using the Bolters to counter-attack any enemy counter-attacks.

Dominor, Casus and Hydrus will be deployed near objectives, or if there aren't any, in positions where they can catch the enemy in a cross fire, then charge.

The Land Speeders will be the only unit deployed within my deployment zone. One will take the left flank, one take the right flank, and move to support my forces on those flanks. The last will move in support of Mortifer once his team Deep Strikes.

wow 30 figures and 3 vehicles for 1500 pts
Your tactics seem sound but whats gonna draw fire and attention from your command squad one they deep strike? You need something threatening.
Your squads have to be static to fire for full effect you should remove the heavy weapons from the squads with BP & CCW so they can constantly advance their position and still fire all their weapons and assault if need be
Ive never liked land speeders i think bikes are more well suited for the job of flanker and its harder for a bolter to kill a bike than it is a landspeeder

what about armor? or a dread you need something that is gonna get shot at and live

I would leave the flamer out. Mixing something like it and a heavy means you'll be wasting at least one of them per turn. Mayhaps a plasma gun here instead?

landspeeders, if used right, can be very effective.
mine always get shot down quickly, so IMHO i would drop two and use those points for a standard dread, a ML in the scout squad, and for more marines in the other squads.

very, very cheap HQ! deserves respect from me :] he's rather simple, but that's not a bad thing. the powerfist might be better replaced by a power weapon and frags, if frags are allowed on termies, cause the slow initiative of the powerfist drags down the awesome strength of the number of attacks your HQ can get. just a suggestion :]

hmm...this is just me, you don't have to consider this if you don't want to, but since the sergeant has a powerfist, personally i would make this squad more maneuverable. the heavy bolter will slow you down, and you'd only be able to use one or the other in a turn, which is a bummer since you have so much firepower.

see above..this squad would be pretty good against anything, as long as it's shooting. i would consider dropping the powerfist and BP for maybe a storm bolter, that way your range is min 24", which is decent, and max 48" which is great. just a thought or two :] also, if you make this and the following identical squad shooty, then the frags won't be as necessary..even though you'll be infiltrating, you can still stay out of charging range by shifting around every other turn, right ? :]

infiltrating devvies! my favorite. i'm not sure about the multi-meltas though. it might be fluff perhaps and i didn't get to read that part, but i think missile launchers might be a better choice? i don't know, just a thought.

that's quite a good number of infantry for 1.5k, so i commend you on that, and also for not spending a million points on your HQ and command squad. the temptation to super trick out HQs is hard to resist, but rewarding, i think :] perhaps a few more teleport homers might be good though, if you play around with the points some more. your infantry are all infiltrating anyways, so more homers would give you more flexibility towards where you drop your termies

not a bad list though. it seems like you tried to balance anti infantry with anti tank in every squad, which is nice, but i think it might be more efficient to specialize each squad towards bolters+antitank guns or bolters+anti infantry guns

just a few thoughts! :] happy gaming !

I'm kinda suprised that no one has pointed this out, but you took two traits, meaning you need a major disadvantage, not a minor one. So just take the one that limits your use of vehicles (flesh over steel) and you should be fine.

I would also suggest you take the trait that allows two assault weapons, since you are right there, so melta-guns and rapid firing death from plasma guns might be more helpful if you are up close and personal.

Well, I put in powerfists simply because those squad are designed to hold objectives aswell as being shooty hit-and-run squads. Generally powerfists are there for CC while holding objectives.

An updated list, based on the trait changes.

I'm keeping the multi-meltas because the Devs are specialist tank killers, and that tasty 2D6 for armour pen is too much to resist.

I played a rather successful test game last night, beating Mech Tau by 1000 VP's. It took only 2 turns to destroy all of his armour amongst the m.l's and multi's.

+++ i'd swap the storm bolter for a power toy. I5 is a terrible thing to waste really, and a power toy will also be immenently more usefull against lesser opposition such as gaunts/guardsmen/basic marines.
also, striking in I order is more usefull against worrysome targets like orks or 'zerkers and power fist sergeants who can do some nasty damage!+++

+++ perhaps just a flamer for thins squad? as all your tactical squads infiltrait, you could perhaps set these guys up a bait unit and/or use them as a forward unit... (and thus the flamer will see action!)
it can also help define these guys more as a pure anti-infantry squad as the other 2 squads both have more ap3/2 shots, meaning they can concentrate on more heavily armoured foes and leave these guys to handle lighter foes?+++

+++ i'd give 1 squad bolters simply to give you some longer ranged rapid fire ability... very usefull against meq's for forcing saves while it can help quickly cut down the numbers of larger assault units like orks/nids.+++

+++ give that bolter scout a sniper rifle! he's doing little right now... maybe even slap a rifle on the sergeant too? leave these guys back to hold your deployment zone while still hurting stuff!+++

+++ interesting! likely give opponent's a bit of a shock too...
just beware of the over-kill factor inherent in all melta weapons... against av12 and worse targets, don't worry about half range! ap1 is good enough. generally, if you're within 6" of your target, don't shoot it with these guys unless it's absolutely nessessary! too many times you'll get that 6 result and blow yourself up along with the enemy armour...+++

I'm keeping the multi-meltas because the Devs are specialist tank killers, and that tasty 2D6 for armour pen is too much to resist.

I played a rather successful test game last night, beating Mech Tau by 1000 VP's. It took only 2 turns to destroy all of his armour amongst the m.l's and multi's.
it's a good list.
the main thing i see is that other assault-based armies will love you because they're generally better than you at what they do;
- orks get choppas & numbers
- 'nids get speed & numbers
- chaos get loads of crap like chainaxes
- eldar are just plain rude thanks to those clowns
that's why i suggest 1 bolter squad for forward support - they can even up the numbers so you can handle the charge...
