Exclamation Legends are Gone, Heroes are Here to Stay

Dear 40kterra.com

Here at 40kterra.com we all want to bond together as a collective community with a common goal. That goal, is to forward, and better our experience with Table Top Gaming. This can only be accomplished if we have an open, fun, and contributing community of gamers. I think that we can all agree that we all want what was mentioned, but work has to be done to accomplish such a goal.

I would like to take this time to give some of the reasons why we lost some of 40kTerra's most contributing members. One of the reasons, balance. I would like to make it clear that the staff here at 40kterra.com is strictly voluntary. We dont get paid, and we get little benefits (trust me medical is not included). However, we take on the burdens to better accomplish the goal mentioned above, that being, bettering our TTG (table top gaming) experience. With that in mind we need to find a balance between family, work, and our personal lives. Thusly, you have to question how some users here can have upwards of 2,000 posts and still find a balance between everything else. The ending result were members taking leave for a few months, taking themselves off staff, or just banning themselves completely. We all need to respect their decisions to leave because in the grand retrospect of it all, family, work and school are simply more important than 40kterra.com. I think it can be agreed by everyone here that this should not consume your life, just as it had for many of our "veteran" users.

I would like to also stress that their departure is a blessing. With the "old guard" gone, it is your chance to form 40kterra.com the way you want to see it, the way you want to contribute, and add as much or as little as you want. This website is for you, and it is time to take hold of your site and send it in the direction that you want to go. I can not stress this enough that this is the perfect time for everyone who wants to stand out, to do it now and really forward this forum to the best of its ability.

We need to band together as a community more than ever. I truely believe that this can easily be done, because we have awesome users here who want to learn more about the game. And its that exact wanting that keeps us as a community. We need to shake off the shackles of the past, and arm ourselves with ideas for the future! To better our site, no, your site to become the best on the web that it can be. Do not let the burdens of our past brothers harm this goal, for nothing can take this away from us.

I would like to close in saying that we lost some legends, but its true heroes that need to step up to the plate. I believe all that is left here are heroes.

There is a huge update that comes yearly to the site, that is coming up. I would like it that after this update we can all continue bettering this site as a new staff, and awesome users.

Yours,
40kterra.com

PS If you have any questions feel free to ask

the question i have even though it may not be my place but is it just coincedence that so many top staff/posters are walking from the site or banning themselves. I am just worried that all these veteran citizens that helped make this site what it is, and the reason i stay, left do to something that would cause the site to change.

Some of them left together, yes... others are away due to real-life issues (like Dragoon King) and others have well... I'm not sure.

To be honest, its all a bit muddled... the storms just passing and the mods are only now able to truly assess the damage.

Believe me... its hard on all of us... some of the things that I'm being told now are... depressing... the way things have happened... it should not have happened this way at all and I for one am sad that we had to lose people like Mart and Dead Commando even if the way they left was wrong.

Steel cpt... that was great! I really liked the way you put it! I couldn't have done it better myself!

No DK is still around just life issues have him in its grasp.
And steveberenyi also has life issues that have caused him to not be able to be here right now.

DK's not gone, he just has some real life situations that make it harder for him to be online. but he's still around. :]
obviously, it's a tough situation but the staff and members who are stickin through i am very proud to be working with. :]

All we ask is to shed a tear and raise a glass to those that have come and gone. A moment of silence for the loss, but remember that each day begins with a new sunrise and who knows what this day will bring. I for one am looking forward to seeing what new exciting things we as a community can acomplish.

My two cents,

Servo

Thanks for that Steel and I do sincerly believe it expresses the views of all the remaining staff.

I just have one thing to add and thats for you, all the members of Terra to not give up on us, now more than ever we need you to trust us and give us the time needed to sort all this out and start over. Because with out you guys we are nothing.

So with that, a new chapter in Terran history begins, Let it be a glorius one.

I guess Im really glad that I typed this cause my thanks count just doubled

May we stand together my brothers for a triumphant victory from our fallen. That no man shall be left a heavy burden of the past. We need to strike the iron when its hot, and take up our words to fight against the tremors of despair. It is that very despair that only makes us stronger against our enemies.

Really well put, really inspiring. As the old depart, the new rise up and take the mantle, in hopes of improving the amazing. It does seem sad that the veterans are departing, but we can take heart in that new people are rising, and hopefully we will see bright new stars that may shine as well as the old ones.

i did intend to post this elsewhere, then considered not posting it at all, but given what this thread is intended to acheive, i'm going to take a chance and hope people see the broader implication i intend of this, so here goes:

i don't mean for this to sound like a rant, but i have stated several times to several people that i am willing to help out, yet nothing ever comes of it - i've offered to look after wfb, chaos, =][=, i filled out an application on a relevant thread - which has since been forgotten and unacknowledged. not so long ago i made a few suggestions that i understand were carried forward with regards to the site. i believe i have even had my name put forward by others for a Custode position, although at present this is unrealistic as i can only access the net from work - yet not once has anyone said 'thanks but no thanks Drax, we are sorted for the moment.'

so whilst this isn't strictly me applying, i will offer once more - after that i'm not going to bother again - although i state clearly that i am not abandoning the site
