WARNING: potential spam poster - 40K Terra

greetings fellow terrans. recently the staff was notified of a problem that an admin of a DIFFERENT forum is making for us, about 'stolen' VBulletin mods. while his arguments against us were rather unclear and pretty much unsupported, your humble staff are working to prevent him from flaming or posting spam crap on our own forum. his account on 40kterra has been effectively neutralized, but there's nothing stopping the offending party from simply starting another/more accounts for the purpose of spamming.

this is where we need your help: please look out for pointless flames or spam postings [from members who you haven't seen before or otherwise], and if you see them, PLEASE notify any staff member that you can via PM, IM, email, or even phone if you must...[you can check the "who's online now" box at the bottom of the forum homepage to see if any of the admins or high lords, etc. are online] and we will do everything we can to stop the problem from spreading.

while the possibility of spam and flaming isn't 100% going to happen, we want to cover all our bases and would like you all to help us with that.

I won't say much, since I'd be bad form, but from what I've seen, he's been a real jerk about things.

I'll keep a close eye out, and report any bashing or flaming of Terra, here and on other sites as well. Thanks for the tip. This guy should be ashamed, we're a good, helpful community and I for one don't appreciate smear campaigns against us.

oooh correction, not only can he read these posts, he IS reading them. let's double back and make sure everything we say is at least polite. i'm not saying anyone is doing anything bad, just watch out for it.

and the reason our security is so open is partly because we don't exactly have people walking into our stuff all day. i'm sorry i blocked your IM, lee, that was kind of an accident actually, but i have to go do the dishes so ican't talk right now anyways.

Well, if he is reading, I have this to say. I've been a member here for quite a while, and everyone has been extremely courteous and helpful. If you have a problem with the site, please don't resort to smear and flaming tactics. Just contact an administrator, or Icarus himself, and I'm sure they will help you sort out the problem. This is a community of fans, and we all want to have a good experience here, and try hard to make sure everyone has fun and a place to talk with other fans in a civil tone. Sure tempers flare, but all in all we're not a bad bunch. You can even contact me, if you want someone to talk to about it. I respect each and every member here, and will try to help any way I can. If you just wanna flame, I can't stop you, but just think about how that makes you look. If you want members here to check out your site, just ask nicely. I don't know the details of what has transpired, but I'm alarmed that there is some discord here. If you wanna work it out, do as I suggested, and like I said, I'd be happy to help, as long as your willing to do it maturely.

yea, he's since IMed both myself and baron spikey, though i don't know of any other IM conversations he's had with our members.

thanks for being understanding too. i know, tempers definitely do flare. a little while ago i was pretty miffed about this too, but as long as we keep our cool we'll hopefully be able to work this out.
