 |  New DoW Expansion! 2 new races! WARHAMMER 40,000: DAWN OF WAR - SOULSTORM ANNOUNCED Next iteration in the acclaimed RTS series on the way Spring 2008 will see the return of the Dawn of War series to PC. Like its predecessors, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm will be a standalone expansion, playable with or without previous iterations; and this time containing 2 new playable factions, one of which is the malicious Dark Eldar, bringing the grand total to 9. The new chapter will feature an entire intergalactic campaign, spanning not just a planet, but an entire star system - building on the revolutionary meta-game from Dark Crusade. Soulstorm will also introduce air units, additional units for the existing 7 races, and multiplayer achievements to boot. RTS and Warhammer 40,000 fans are in for a treat then, as Relic, in association with Iron Lore Entertainment, continues its tradition of genre leading gameplay and strategic depth. We'll have plenty more on this soon, so stay tuned. Thoughts on the second race? maybe nids or sisters... LatD would be cool...

| that's some seriously good news. I would put my money on Tyranids, as the only other one they would do are Witch Hunters. Although actually, with a name like Soulstorm, I could easily see the WHs involved as a new race. Nids will be fabulous when they get round to them though. They simply can't not be amazing.

| I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say it'll be Witch Hunters. Why? Because the Dark Eldar have Wyches, so it makes sense that the WH would be added with them as their polar opposite. |

Witch Hunters and Dark Eldar are "balanced" with the other armies, meaning they follow the same or similar guidelines as the rest by being primarily shooting armies. Tyranids are a different kind of army altogether, relying on their swarming and close combat tactics. I think that 'Nids would just be too different of a race for what we have right now. I don't think any of the armies are prepared to fend off a swarm-based faction. But I could be wrong. We'll see. | |

Blog Entries: 1 | Check my threads on the DoW:SS expansion. The second race will not be Tyranids. It will most likely be Witch Hunters. If you can't wait to try out the Tyranids, try the Tyranid mod.
