Default Curse You Abnett! Curse You Stitch!

Well Brothers.. It has happened.. This Son of Sanguinius is a dirty, filthy radical Inquisitor now. I had planned on my own DIY marine chapter for my next army. But given the release of the DA, and the fact that my theme (hooded monk like warriors) is now available out of the box, I am shelving them until later notice... Stitch, I need to know where to find those fun chapter approved rules for us radicals!

Now, I have questions to ask of you, Brothers... Will the Ordo matter horribly much for a radical Inquisitor, beyond wargear, retinue, and psychic ability? If not, I will go for Daemonhunters, as I do love me a psycannon! Any further advice, troop wise?

I have had several suggest Inducted Guard, for the mass of troops available, as well as the Russ! But I'm just not sure....Since Grey Knights or Sisters are out no matter what Ordo(I think), I need some sage advice from those that have played these armies, or some advice troops wise from Guard and Inquisition players (when not relating to SoB or GK). I know I will be taking a daemonhost, if not more than one, and death cult assassains. This is my first venture outside of power armor, and I already feel naked!

I just can't stay away from Chaos, what can I say? And to answer that one burning question: Yes, it will be Slaanesed themed, and my Death Cult will be converted daemonettes!

Hi I hope i can help as both a Guard and Deamonhunter(Radical) player.

The ordos don't matter as all inquisitors are the same but will affect things like Deamnhosts or penitent engines. If you are going radical I suggest not giving your inquisitor lots of fancy wargear as it is all hieously expensive for a strenghth 3 toughness 3 Independant character.

Troop wise assassins=FUN
multiple deaomhosts=MORE FUN

Guard can be helpful for mass support fire and human wave tactics. With low morale and weak basic weapons the more of these guys the better so take multiple platoons load them up with heavy weapons (or special if you want to move alot) and let rip.
A Leman Russ is a must for sheer killyness but always support it with infantry and remember there is never enough infantry in the guard.

Just my two cents hope it helps.
Good luck with your army.

alot of how your army is organised will depend on which army is the 'parent'... if you're wanting both assassins and daemonhosts, then use the daemonhunters as your parent list. (if the guard are your parent list, you don't get many elites choices!)
which ordo you choose really only affects wargear & retinues - radical daemonhunters may still take sisters of battle as allies too!

and i heartily agree with guard master; don't go all out on wargear for your inquisitor and/or inq.lord! infact, don't give him any close combat weapon beyond a simple power toy or lightning claw!
the problem is, daemonhunters pay space marine pts costs for their kit, making them horribly over-priced for what is still just a basic human character... (phil assures me this will be fixed when the codex is redone though, as he's also rather p*%#ed about it!) concerning psychic powers, nothing beats holocaust! so much fun dropping a pie-plate on top of an assaulting unit of say, oh... 20+ hormagaunts?!
as for your inquisitor's retinue, again keep it more shooty with a few acolytes to act as bullet catchers! (i personally would take 2 heavy bolter servitors along with a vet guardsman w/flamer for general 'shooty-burny' death!!!)

again, as pointed out taking inducted guard will give you lots of numbers and tank hunting ability which is something the daemonhunters serverly lack.
2 sentinels with lascannon & armoured crew compartments are tasty!

however, you're going to be limited to only the very basic guard units so plan on taking a couple of infantry platoons. heavy bolter/autocannons and grenade launchers are the best upgrades for guard infantry as they are reall ment to take on enemy infantry! wasting 9 other blokes just to miss a tank isn't that smart a move... i'd ignore the option for armoured fist squads as your own inquisition storm troopers are much better.
so basically, your guard units will for form your fire support while your inquisition units advance fowards and tackle the objectives. the one exception is the russ! give it the 3 heavy bolters it can take and this baby is just plain mean and will make a very tasty spearhead for your mobile units!

pm me with your e-mail for those radical wargear rules, or else you can find them in US white dwarf 287... (and that nice man mr.kelly has indeed promised his loyal brethren some more tasty treats when the codex is redone.)

cheers!

Sage advice from Stitch and Guard Master.
I have a friend who plays radical DH.
He uses demon hosts all the time.
They don't work all the time, but, when they do....well ;lets just say its not pretty for his opponent.
Keep us posted and let us know when you have a list up.
Kas.

The list is soon to come, and I will be working on developing them side-by-side with the Black Saints and their sexy new look. A list is to be forthcoming as soon as I revive the trusty old laptop.

Stitch...you once mentioned a link to a Radical only wargear PDF or something along those lines.
Do you still have that link and can you post it for us?

Sadly, as I found out, that is illegal and violates GW intellectual property licenses. However, she can privately email them to you, or I can. Whichever you like.

I'll have it from either of you. It matters not who sends it to me.
Thanks.

I must say, Erus, your idea is hella-cool! Daemonettes as Assassains?!?!? I would never have thought of something like that! This Inquisitor has gone to (and very likely over) the very edge of radical into traitor!

The radical wargear is, as aforementioned, only 8 pieces of wargear, and a couple can't even be used by Inquisitors.

Your Inquisitor is so gonna get himself declared Excommunicate.
It'll be excellent for some fluff. He'd need to have access to a very powerful Chaos tome to control Daemonettes.

ah, erus, three cheers for radicals! haha those crazy puritans have got it all wrong..

for the inquisitor i think psycannon is easily the coolest weapon you can give him..since you don't want GK or sisters, i guess you'd have to make the inquisitor an HQ, so that probably means more guns in the retinue, correct ? personally [i am already building an inquisitor for my SM allies now] i'd go for tons of guns..more hb's, or plasma weaponry = fun! and i think daemonhosts are great...haha if you're gonna go for one, why not more ?[size="2"] okay my text is messed up so i’ll type more later -____-

*edit*could i get one of those emails as well? r4wr89@gmail.com...:]

ah it seems that for the time being my font has returned to normal. i wouldn't think that the ordo would matter that much, since eisenhorn dabbles a bit in all of them in the omnibus [great read, FYI]. anyhow..i think in terms of troops you're pretty much left with storm troopers, which isn't bad. the thing is, death cultists have trouble getting to front lines [or so i've read] since they can't sit in tanks..i've read about people using other tanks to mask their advance, or maybe stick it behind a less valuable choice [ie stormtroopers] and hope for the best, perhaps ? well let us know what you end up with!:] mm i may not be on for a while longer, BTW, so goodbye for now! and welcome back stitch, if i haven't already said that...:]
