malleus hands down...

the main problem with inquisitors in general is that they're options make them look like good fighty characters, but they're really just S3/T3 IC's which tends to lead to them getting their poor faces beat-in!

the daemonhunters also have the better shooting weapons; namely the psycannon. add-in the protection of mass crowd control offered by holocaust and the mystic henchmen which all but eliminate the threat of deep strikers, and you'll find that the malleus inquisitor can really hold his own when defending your deployment zone!

cheers!

i still think ordo herictus is the way to go, as they have a wider range of options for fast attack, eilites, and heavy support.

ah, but he was talking about the LORD
true, i loves the sisters, but their inquisitors are kind of specialized and unless youre taking on eldar or some other psyker heavy army alot of their upgrades are kinda useless.
they are nice for supporting sisters though.

malleus is generally the better all around combat man.

take the cannoness as your required HQ and then ally a proper malleus inquisitor lord to the force! that way you get an inquisitor lord + retinue that isn't a 'useless pts sink'!

cheers!

Can the daemon hunter inquisitor have the Liber Heresius? For me, that one item is the key reason to take a witch hunters inquisitor, being able to practically guaranteed to pick the board edge/ deployment zone every game is why my friends hate me so much. That one item makes me win more games than anything else. (Especially combined with Orbital strike, for that denies my opponent a key terrain feature, doesn't kill them mind you, but makes them move closer to me ^ ^)

I play Hereticus, but sometims I feel the Malleus is more potent. Malleus can have Term armor.

malleus can have the godly psycannon too!

overall malleus is more destructive, but i really like the witch hunter retinues better... sure the mystics are good fun and a great way to counter enemy deep strikers, but the hereticus' ability to take crusaders makes them rather more survivable in an assault.

cheers!

The Mallius also gives you psycannon bolts on vehicles and Grey Knights, incinerators to ignore cover AND invulnerable saves, and the Emperor's Tarot to get a better chance at first shot.
