| Corporal ![]() | Well I'm here again with a promised tutorial, I call it: Green-Stuff Casting; Making the Mould ![]() First I'd like to list the things you will need
and wondered "How did that jam-y bastard do that?" Well I'm here to tell the mindless masses how (good for you )First step, find what you're wanting to cast, I chose something that every Imperial commander would kill his first lieutenant for; A Skull Mould! This is one of the many instances of Skulls in imperial culture, they are easy enough to find. Take a bit of Green-Stuff (epoxy putty) about the size of a pea and squish it on top of the mould making sure that you press the GS into all the nooks and crannies. ![]() Let it cure... and I mean REALLY cure, until it's rock hard. Pry it off **CAREFULLY** ![]() Now up until that point many have come and been successful but then fallen flat on their faces as they try to get a successful cast from it. Green-Stuff sticks to Green-Stuff... usually this is a good thing... but is very annoying in this case as ripping out a cast from the mould is either impossible or causes the cast to be of poor quality (leaving bits stuck in the mould) rendering both mould and cast more useless and wasteful than a fully tooled-up Genestealer. the secret? ![]() Dunk another GS ball (again the size of a pea) into a box of Cornflour and then roll it between your fingers. You'll notice that the whole thing... just doesn't stick any more... PERFECT! ![]() Stuff the ball back into the reverse of your mould and you'll see something like this: ![]() Let the whole thing cure for a good few hours and then pry out your cast. File down the back until it's flat and attach where ever a bare bit of armour needs embellishing.

| If you do it that way, just remember to oil up your object before pressing it into the GS.

| Corporal ![]() | Just to add a little something; You're mould is likely to last for some time before it needs replacing... So go nuts on those casts! News: I'm thinking of making a second Tut on the same subject, this time for the advanced users. This is just a simple *one side* cast. Next up is a full 2 sided mould sutible for getting... well to use the same subject (which I might not), a WHOLE skull. Watch this space y'all.

Blog Entries: 1 | I tried GS casting last year. I used oil instead of cornflower, and used hand grenades. The end result was dismal. I think I'll try this way and see if I can get some more detail into the GS piece. |
