Hummm Sculpting flames.....I wish I could help but I am in a sim boat and have little or nothing. I would so several things though:
1) post here as you have done!
2) Contact some of the senior sculptors here as in Dead_commando, Hairy Yahoo, Precintomega or someone like them for help or resources
3) Give it a go yourself!! get some old GS or some cheap putty (wood or JB weld) and just play around!

Good luck to ya and I hope you find something good!

i can't take pictures of a tut tonight, maybe tomorrow i can rustle one up ? it's pretty simple though. there's also a link somewhere on the USGW site, let me look for it...

in the meantime, you can also use like topknots from chaos marine heads for flame / smoke effects, just chop it off and glue it to the front of the weapon.

for the GS, there's a motion you kinda work out: if it's like a head or something, or whatever, wrap a "showercap" conical shape around it, work it into a nice relatively flame-y shape, get it nicely affixed onto it, then carefully pick at it with a pin or needle. and by pick i mean jab the needle in, then carefully work it out of the GS vertically [ie, drag it towards the top of the flame] and simply repeat it a lot. :] eventually it should look like this:

:] cheers !

That link for fire is great. I was fortunate enough to actually have Rob Hawkins as one of my club gamers here in Pa. Now he is out in seattle, washington, working for PP.

Good find Templar Mikeel.

A friend of mine did it a short time ago, he used a pointed tweezers, put as glob of green stuff on a metal rod, and started from there. I must admit it sounds crazy, but Ill tell you one thing, his turned out better than anything Ive ever seen.
