As someone who does maintenance and die work for a company that makes the sheet styrene for Garage Sale and Beware of Dog signs, I reckon I'd say "VERY WELL". My company makes sheet styrene in thicknesses from .005" to .250". We sell to anyone who wants it, but our primary customers are sign companies, and the guys who screen-print Car Tags (another cheaper souce of styrene). The Sale signs are usually .010" to .020", while the car tags are normally .040" to .060" (perfect for Berenyi's cardstock creations). If you go to the hobby shop for Evergreen or Plastruct sheet styrene, 3 sheets of .020" @ 6x12" will run you $3.79 or so (about $.017 per square inch). The garage sale signs at Wally World, same thickness, @ 9x12" run about a buck a piece (roughly $.009 per sq. inch). Do the math. At WM, you save about half. Dang, I can finally talk about my job. One of these days, I'm gonna start selling plastic. I'll be a millionaire.

We also make PVC pipe, from 1/4" to 2". Just to let you know. I am Plastic Man.

The wheels are a turning. I have to buy 100 pounds at a time, but I should be able break it down into a few sheets of each size: .005, .010, .015, .020, .030, .040, .050, .060, .080, .100, .125 (anything bigger isn't really feasible). What would be most popular? .010, .020, .040 Let me know, and I'll see if the mucky-mucks will deal with me. I should be able to buy the stuff, sell it to you guys, and still make a little bit for myself. Of course, I do have my own "pivate stock".

I'm just waiting for them to let me make my own dies and start popping out aftermarket GW stuff on the side. But, that ain't ever going to happen. Oh well, let me see what I can come up with on the sheets.

Count me in as well. Need of PC has stopped many crazy ideas.

Can you get plastic rod/tubing style styrene?

Nope on the rods/tubing. We extrude pipe, but 1/4" ID is as small as we go. Normally we run 1 1/4" pipe for patio furntire, and 2" ppe for roof-top solar pool heaters.

Also, not to offend anybody, but in the business, it's called sheet styrene, or styrene sheet. Ask any scale modeler or model railroader. Plasticard is a British term. I wouldn't be surprised if GW invented the term. Just because a Brit created GW, it doesn't mean we have to use their terms. After all, we have colOR, armOR, honOR, tIres, and the thing on the front of my car is a #*%$#* hood, not a bonnet. (Sorry for the brief rant.) My sister married a Brit and moved to England. I have a 4 year old nephew whom I've never met. She also upstaged my WEDDING by announcing her move across the pond. Sorry folks.

OK folks, I'm haggling with the powers that be. I can't get "cost" pricing, and I'll have to agree to buy 1500 pounds a years to get wholesale (that's a LOT of plastic), but I'm working on a deal to buy less, pay a little more, and still save everybody a lot of money. (And, maybe put a little in my pocket, too. Shhhh. Don't tell anybody.)
