Blog Entries: 2 | Chapter Name: Terranus Praetor Founding: 22nd (unknown to all but the ranking officers of the chapter) Geneseed: Imperial Fist Homeworld: Fleet based chapter with one major hold in the Sol System History Age of Apostasy During the 36th millennium, the Imperium of Man was beset by a religious civil war. The insane tyrant Goge Vandire usurped control of the Imperial bureaucracy and plunged the Imperium into its bloodiest period since the Horus Heresy. The Wars of Faith raged for seven decades and millions died during the religious paranoia and brutal repression that occurred on all sides. Soon, a rebellion formed around a charismatic orator known as Sebastian Thor. He swayed countless worlds, and eventually the Space Marines and Adepts of Mars joined him. Together, they sieged the Ecclesiarchal Palaces and ended Vandire's Reign of Blood. One such chapter was the Terranus Praetor. During this time the chapter was in it’s fledgling stages, but a formidable force none the less. Boasting just short of a full chapter regiment they took to the field like zealots. Spreading the word of the Emperor and fighting Vandire’s countless allies with a surgical precision unmatched by all but the most veteran of chapters. Their zeal provided many grounds and shrines to be retaken in the name of the Imperium of man. Though costing several lives from the members of the new chapter they fought on giving their all for Terra. In the end, the Terranus Praetor received a prestigious honor from the High Lords of Terra for their honor and bravery during the course of the war. That honor was a garrison on the outskirts of the Sol System itself. The chapter eagerly accepted the garrison located on the Jovian moon Ganymede. From this outpost they are one of Terra’s most formidable lines of defense from threatening bodies from outside the system. Other Jovian moons not currently used for other Imperial operations have been given the status of training grounds for the chapter to hone its fighting skills. From this location the Terranus Praetor Chapter have launched crusade after crusade in their nearly fleet based chapter. Many of their missions do not allow them to re-supply as other chapters do, as the length of a crusade is indeterminable. Due to this complication the chapter has learned to be self-sufficient by claiming materials from the battlefield and in some cases requisitioning equipment available from the Imperial world they have fought upon. This has led the force to have a rather rag tag appearance in some places where machinery could not be repaired and thus replaced with whatever could be used in the original’s place as an equivalent. Battle of Cransidius IX During a seemingly routine mission to cleanse a force allied to Vandire the chapter happened upon another Adeptus Astartes force who neither gave them a name or configured to any known chapter patterns or configurations on Imperial file. The Praetorian Chapter had been aware of the rumor that two more legions other than those which were splintered into the chapters known today were supposed to exist. Though it has not been confirmed that this legion of Astartes found at the battle was in fact one of those “Lost Legions”, the chapter believes in the possibility of proving the legend true. During the battle the Terranus Praetor were pinned in a canyon by the opposing force. There was no other way into the battle zone save the effort of traversing the canyon. During the seemingly endless battle a crackle came over the vox channel followed by an unknown voice, “Imperial Forces of the Astartes, mount up for travel at speed. We are fixed on your location and are attacking the enemy from both fronts. On my mark move forward to take the chapel.” Thinking that an Imperial Guard force had stumbled upon the battle and were providing a way for the chapter top push forward to the real objective they complied with haste. What they saw then was remarkable from even a space marine’s point of view. From nowhere came a legion sized force of armored Astartes warriors who pushed the enemy back both inside the canyon and upon its walls. Thunderhawks disgorged assault teams while land speeders of an zoomed around the armored formation of the Terranus Praetor to provide support for the column to reach their destination. Once at the chapel held by Vandire’s allies both force combined their efforts to bring it down. Imperial armor devastated the walls while waves after wave of marine flooded the interior to take the building intact. The day was won by the coalition of Astartes forces. After the battle the mystery legion disappeared without a trace. With nothing save and armor description and a few vox recordings and pict stills taken by outpost cameras, the Praetorians still search for their allies, and the truth behind them. The chapter’s colors were altered to honor the spirit of these most worthy of warriors and to show their dedication in finding them once again. Beliefs Every marine from the chapter sees himself as a beacon of light in the galaxy. They spread the light and word of the Emperor with every battle and deed conducted throughout their long careers. Every waking moment and act is a reflection of the Emperor’s will, and they will see that mighty will carried out to the darkest reaches of space. Recruitment The marines of this chapter are recruited from various parts of the Imperium. One unique thing about the chapter stands out in the process of recruitment. Once every ten years, the Imperial Fists bring a group of forty aspiring men from Terra itself and present them to the Terranus Praetor Chapter. These recruits are held in high regard and help the chapter remember always what they are fighting for. Organization The Terranus Praetor are primarily a codex chapter. However, each captain is allowed to Train his company in the manner he sees fit. This allows for the development of new strategies and tactics. Upon the conclusion of a battle the formations used are entered into the chapter’s librarium for safekeeping should the organization need used again. Deviations Due to the chapter being assembled during the so called “Cursed Founding” some deviances have been recorded, but as of yet only three instances of a physical deformation have occurred (which were in the initial testing of the geneseed those many years ago). The chapter has been graced with a long career in that its only notable change given by the testing of the time is their deep passion for protecting Terra itself. This is believed to be due to the intense psycho-indoctrination process. During this process the marine is taught that Terra is the light of the universe and should be protected at all costs. Once a scout becomes a full Battle Brother the psycho-conditioning kicks in the first time his armor is donned turning the marine into a warrior that follows unquestioningly to protect the ancient home of the Emperor and spread his will through the galaxy. Allies Due to the close proximity to Terra and it’s many guardians, the chapter itself has many ties and allied to Imperial Forces. The Inquisitional Ordo Herticus has a combined forces with the chapter on many occasions which has also led to a close relationship with many of the Orders from the Adeptus Soriatas. The Ordo Malleus stationed in the orbit of nearby Saturn pays occasional visits to the chapter to ensure the purity of their souls and assists in the training of Libarians. The Ordo Malleus takes able marines from the chapter as it does from all chapters, but no other relationships have been chiefly established. The Imperial Guard have an especially fond relationship with the Terranus Praetor. Many Imperial regiments have been assisting forces to the chapter and regularly accompany their crusades into especially challenged areas. Some regiments have even fought to gain an assignment with the Praetorian Chapter.
