| Discord Chaos and death!! ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm thinking :P As a reminder to everyone only troop choices iirc can take objectives and btw thats how its gonna be in 5th too that one is a fact. ![]() Sooo many Gaunts...its disconcerting but here goes... The Dreadnaught Assualt force will push foward down the middle road, The tech Marine will then take up postion in the building near the cross road while one of each dread goes into the buildings on both sides. 2 Armoured Fist Squads and two Tac squads will move towards the far left building and secure it. Two armoured fists and two tacs will secure the round building. 1 salamader will go with each. The Leman Russ Exterminator shall push up the center with the dreads to provide cover fire. The Eversor Assassin will appear behind the nids and start to cause havoc. The Elysian Drop Infantry Platoon will strafe the Gaunt broods for two turns then land and drop the troops next to the area most needing help The valks will then take off and keep strafeing. The Thunderbolt will strafe the fexes. The Sent will go to the far left building and will start to pop gaunts and or godzilla type nids. the command squad will take the building on the right of the cross road I have made a good marking on the map ![]() light green=dread Dark green=Dark angels infantry yellow=Imp guard veh Dark blue= armoured fist light blue= drop troops most likely landing zone Purple= Eversor entrances ![]() ![]()

Is this a mission from the Apoc book that I missed, or is there some other place I can get my hands on the specail rules? Just wondering cause that will drastically change my tactics if I just have to hunker down and take one building. | High Lord of Terra ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wow... That is one heck of a force you brought along with you there Spartan. Damn man that Assassination force is nasty. I am just hoping that my poor little Tyrants survive. Each one will take 6 st.5 ap2 hits before the battle even begins! Ouch! But my main goal will be to hug cover as much as possible and take away clear lines of fire until I can get with in assault range. This should be pretty easy considering most of my assaulting forces that start on the board have a min range of 18" the turn they are assaulting! Now on to more detailed tactics! Ok, so basically I see a Two pronged attack coming at Spartan. my goal, sense he isn't protecting his flanks very well is to strike at both of these equally hard and then squash the rest of his army between my two split up forces. The way he has his army deployed I think that I should be able to maximise my cover and limit his amount of shooting. Here is how I am breaking it down. Prong One = Thick Black Arrow This prong will consist of the 2 Close Combat Tyrants, 2 squads of warriors and all the hormagaunts. They will deploy on the left flank and make there way through the forest until they hit the road. The warriors will actually have to move up through the ruble (they are small green arrow) with a little luck they should all be able to assualt on Turn 2 or 3 depending on how large table is. Gaunts will probably get there first and then the warriors and Tyrants will help clean up mess. That is 2 MC, 16 warriors with 4 rending attacks each on the charge and a charge range of 12" and 72 gaunts with 3 attacks each on the charge, I=5, and frag grendades that Spartan will need to deal with. Cover should be able to make it so he only gets one shooting phase before they pounce. Yes I realize that his flying machines will rat-a-tat-tat at me for a while, but with cover and the shear number I am bringing down up on him I am not to worried. Also remember that all my guants! and I mean ALL of them, termi and normal guants have the 'Without number' rules and they all have fleet of claw. So even if they do get whiped out they will be back to cause some more havoc for Spartan. Prong 2 = Thin Black Arrows This prong will have the 2 shooty Tyrants, last squad of warriors, and the rest of the Gaunts with it. They move straight forward and start laying down 48 shots at 18" from each squad of termigaunts (D-guants as I like to call them) that is 142 shots total, just from the D-gaunts and they re-roll all missed wounds! Throw in a few shots from str 9 Venom cannon and more Devourer shots and that is one withering hail of worm ammo you need to wade through. Tyrants will take pot shots at Armour if they get the chance. The Odds and Ends: Barrage will hopefully hit on Turn 2 and will be aimed where you see the big red circle. at st 8 and allways hitting side armour I am hoping that this will whipe out at least 1/2 the dreads and cut the techmarine squad down to size not to mention hit a lemon russ or 3. Lictors will pop up after Barrage is over with and whipe up anything that is left over. Lictors = blue 'X' Carnifex's and Heridule can Drop any where I need them to be. I think I would drop them dead center of town and have them mop up what ever is left. Because of the 'spores' that they arive in they get a 5+ cover save the frist turn they are on the table, witch should help survive a bility wise. I might move them to the left or to the right depnding on witch flank needs more help, but with the lictors "pheromone Trail" rule I can get them to show up when needed. That is 6 fex's and one nasty Gargantuan Creature! (Fex = Yello circle Heridule = black circle) I am not to worried about the assassins. My guess is they will get tied up/whiped out by any gaunts that re-emerge after getting slaughtered the first time around. ![]() Key: Thick Black Line = prong 1 (2 close combat Tyrants, 2 squads of warriors, 3 squads of Hormagaunts) Thin Green Line = path that Warriros will take so as to keep pace with Prong 1 Red Circle = Apoc Orbital Bombardment (apoc barrage of 4 with st. 8 Ap 3 that hits sides of vehicles) Blue 'X's = Lictors Black Dot = Heridule Yellow Dot = Carnifex Thin Black Line = Prong 2 (2 shooty Tyrants, 1 squad of warriors, 3 squads of D-gaunts) There you have it folks, I think this will be one for the ages. At first I really didn't like my chances, but after brain storming and looking at how much I brought to the field I think I will actually be able to pull this one off! | High Lord of Terra ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I remember that evisors explode, that is why I throw gaunts at them or shoot them to death with D-gaunts. As for cover, I think it helps me more than you. You get reduced lines of sight and shorter range, most of my stuff that will assult into cover has Flesh hooks witch don't care about cover and your dreads are geared towards shooting witch means that they won't be able to kill anything in first round of combat and my stuff should easily be able to do it. As for your flanks you have 40 guys on each flank compared to my 2 Monsterous creatures, 72 guants, 16 warriors on one sid/8 on the other, and enough cover for me to use to assualt you with taking minimal shooting. After I mop up those measily 40 guys on each flank I just start pushing towards your center flank. It might not be enough to grab me a win, I will let others decide that, but it is sure to be a masicare on both sides of the field. just the way the bugs like it.My two cents, Servo PS: This will be my last tactics post for a while, I don't want to create to much garbage for the voters to read. ![]() |
