| Here's how I see the battle shaping up... Turn One: Given the described setup, I think in the first turn both sides would be pretty safe from each others shooting given the Sandstorm visual blocking. 5 Grey Knights units flank strongly to the right while the Necrons reply by advancing two units of warriors to meet them, most likely backed up by Scarabs racing out front and Destroyers from behind. The shooting would favor the Necrons since the Grey Knights wouldn't be able to knock down anywhere near enough Necrons to keep WBB from returning 7 out of 8 (12% stay dead) hit by Grey Knight shooting back to the table. Meanwhile the Grey Knights would start to take casualties from shooting of about 1 in 6 (17% dead) falling to the Necrons guns. In the Center/Left the Inquisitor and remaining Knights can advance in the Sandstorm, with the same lack of success against shooting vs. the Necrons in the middle. Necron shooting would probably target the Death Cult Assassins to eliminate their Power Weapons as soon as possible, advancing the Monolith against the lower Toughness Inquisitor, Retinue and Assassins to get better use of the Monolith's secondary weapons in the next turn. Immortals should stay in the rear as a reserve. Turn Two: The Knights Right Flank should get almost everything into shooting range, but nothing into charge range. The shooting will again favor the Necrons as the 5% greater efficiency in shooting coupled with the resiliency of WBB keeping Necrons in the fray. Grey Knight shooting may be able to obliterate an entire unit of Destroyers (Heavy or otherwise), and possibly two, but the backfield presence of the Lord with Orb would bring 3 out of 4 of them back. The Grey Knights should have lost about 25% of their number by now, with at least one unit tied up in close combat by the Scarabs. In the Center/Left the Knights and Necrons shooting should pay off similar results. The Monolith should be shooting into the Grey Knight formations at this point, upping the Necron shooting damage. However, the Assassins should be close enough to charge next turn, as could some of the Knight units. Turn Three & Four: The Grey Knights finally get to the "safety" of close combat and are able to knock down Necrons faster than they are able to get up and hit back. Destroyers and Purgation squads would keep trading potshots, with the Necrons having the upper hand as the Lord with the Immortals 'ports behind the Knights and aids in the shooting so that half the remaining Knights are shot down. The Destroyer Lord will most likely wade into combat against this flank where his self-repair and Invulnerable Save will help out the most. The Center Left should see the surviving Assassins cutting down a unit of Necron Warriors, with the Knights getting into close combat and the Inquisitor left twiddling his thumbs while the Knights not locked into close cobat get blasted by the Monolith. At this point the Necron's weight of numbers coupled with the Immortal & Lord rapid reaction to any Grey Knight or Inquisition targets of opportunity NOT in close combat should seal the deal. Necrons Win I think Bloodthirsty might want to consider running the Assassins near or with the regular Grey Knights as their Power Weapons would help knock down the Necrons who would otherwise be getting up from the S6 Halberds (but only the Justicar's counts as a Power Weapon, if I remember correctly). The redundancy of Vlad's Necron list plays into it's favor with WBB rolls since even with excellent shooting from the Grey Knights, there will still be enough "same type" units nearby or the Lord with the Resurrection Orb to keep 3 out of 4 returning to combat effectiveness the next turn, wile the Grey Knight casualties are irreplaceable. Better luck next time, Imperium. |

| I think theGrey Knights will win because of their superior firepower. The psycannon is heavy 36 AND assault 18, meaning that on turn 1 no matter who moves first the Knights will be shooting at full strength while the 'crons will be shooting 1 shot per man ( or robot, or whatever). The assasins will be a pain to stop since they are deployed independently. It will take a couple of turns to bring them down and the Knights will be pouring fire into the 'cron line at the same time.
