Default 1500pts of yellow gits. AKA imperial fists.

Okay so if anyone has read my blog you should have gathered by now that im going to be doing some Imperial fists. and rather than just start buying models (tho i am VERY tempted to buy a termie chaplain and Libriain as the models both look, SERUIOUSLY cool) at will, im going to start with a simple 1500pts army list and work my way up from there.
so, without any further adue, heres the List:
IMPERIAL FISTS 5TH COMPANY SUPRESSION FORCE:

ypu raise a good point. however, this army is meant to be Fairly static, but flexable. as for claiming table quaters, its fairly bad. but, the reasoning behind the list is simple.
form the three tactical squads up, so if possible they have over lapping fields of fire. then, either at the begining of the game, or some time during the first two turns, move the devs to either flank, and then shoot the hell outta nything, as they can deal with both tanks and troops effectively. as for the HQ suad, ill use them as a counter attacking uint. if a shock troop unit assualts, say a tac squad. these guys will jump out and counter attack, hopefully ending the combat on that turn.

as foir the speeders. ive faced them in the past, and a pair working as a tag team, and using the rule: you them, and then you dont. CAUSE YOUR DEAD. stratagy, has work wonders on me in the past, i forget how many squads have been chewed up against speeders that have moved in for a turn, chew them up so they cant effectively fight back, and then flown off again. annoying. >< so, i though since i needed some fast moveing firepower, taht i would take some speeders and see how i got on.

I've never been a fan of heavy weapons in tactical squads... my few experiances have taught me that it's generally not worth it... it could work, and it has worked before, but I prefer more mobile, counterassault/assault squads... frag grenades, powerfist, 2 special weapons (using Cleanse and Purify... THE BEST TRAIT)... put them in a rhino and BOOM a very efffective tactical squad that can deal with any siduation.

Same as above... except that I like this squad better for some reason... maybe its the shorter range of the heavy bolter, and the fact that I like heavy bolters a lot!

Why the tank hunters on those heavy bolter marines? Other than that... solid choices.

Not a fan of the whirlwind myself, its really more of a specialist unit that is only going to be useful if you're fighting horde armies... that's just me though...

Over all I don't like the idea of static lists... but that is from my playing experiences of fighting FAST armies... ones that will close with you and then wipe you out in CC... which means that I'm going mobile... getting things like assault marines... rhinos... and lanspeeders...

Still... I'm assuming that you have some decent 40k experience... and you've chosen a static list for a reason...

I have my reasons for chooseing this list, and building it the way i have. well the CMD sqd and the cpt, are designed to be a counter attack unit. so they wait for anouther unit charge one of my front line Tac squads and the try and chew them up ASAP.

as for the Heavy amount of Big guns in the Tac squads. simple Really, i dont want them moveing all game. as an army list taht could complete objectives its not brilliant i grant you. but this list is nto designed to play like that. it can be moblie, just not very mobile. simply put, this army, will only have 3 effective turns of moveing. so the tac squads will leapfrog each other. effectively giveing me a weak but contin ues wave of shooting.

as for the tank hunter on the Heavy bolter sqd. you would not belive how effective that is. simply because of the sheer amount of shots they have im bound to get some penetrations. even on Armour 12 vehicles like dreados. its work for me in the past. many a time ive seen a dreado get chew up to hell, simply becasue of the sheer amount of shots a squad like this cna pump out.

Dave, aside from the myriad of spelling mistakes it looks good. I agree with Master on the Tank Hunting Heavy Bolters but you have played FAR more games of 40k than me so I shall trust your instincts ^^

My only concern is that if a big nasty unit of chaos terminators with Huron Blackheart (Well any chaos lord but i have Huron so is easy for me to imagine) deep strikes and gets the charge on your Command Squad. To my inexperienced eye it looks as if you dont have much to fight them off. It really does seem to be a Charge or die kind of unit =\ But hey your list =D And if I am right then I found a way to take down your Command Squad. If not i just wasted several minutes typing this.

Zeb i take it you mean if the deep striking terminators survive a turn of shooting against them. From what i see is this list is very static but static is good.
This list is only goin to play one way and thats with counter attacking and shooting. the speeders may just get to be a nuisance and not actually get the job done.

Against Horde armies (Orks, Nids etc) this will work but against anything that can shoot better (Tau, Guard etc) it will struggle.

Overall nice one.
