Well, there they are. My pride and joys. Listed Below is, for purely fluff purposes, Remus, the Master Librarian.

Remus, Chosen of the Patriarch (166pts.):

Bolt Pistol, Force weapon, Combat Shield, Jump Pack, Psychic Hood, Might of Heroes and Storm of the Emperors Wrath.

Would have to loose Venerable on the Venerable Seneca, and it's extra armor to fit him in, but he's a must model since he's a pivotal character in the fluff. I doubt i'll use him though, not a big fan of librarians in game.

Comments and criticism very welcome!

[quote=Lord Commander Erus;19519]The Black Saints Chapter (remnant of the chapter after the disaster at the feral world Thurix)

As this is a fluffy chapter, I'm going to assume some of the more "hmm" things are fluffy.

Lord Crusader Adonis(186 pts.): Thunder Hammer, Bolt Pistol, Combat Shield, Jump Pack, Terminator Honours. Adamantine Mantle.

This guy would do better with a powerweapon or lighting claws than Thunder Hammer. Thunder Hammers are for standard marines more than they are for ICs, as you can't get your lovly I5.

High Prelate Antonius(141 pts.): Bolt Pistol, Crozius Arcanum, Jump Pack, Rosarius, Teleport Homer, Terminator Honours

I find that Teleport Homers go better on units that aren't ICs, so, should you get stuck in CC against S8+ enemies, you don't lose the teleport homer as easily.

The Council Guard(240 pts, Terminator Squad.):
Sergeant Trajan: Power weapon, Storm Bolter
Castor: Assault Cannon, Power Fist
Pollux: Assault Cannon, Power Fist
Orion: Storm Bolter, Power Fist
Apollo: Storm Bolter, Power Fist

I like this squad... though, in this day and age, Assault Cannons are highly disliked. Also, I would get another model, 6 man squads are much better.

The Hands of the Emperor, Lords of the Council of Thirteen(Vet. Squad, 255 pts, Infiltrate.):
Sergeant Tiberius: Bolt Pistol, Power Fist, Terminator Honors
Vitellius: Lightning Claws,
Domitian: Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon
Claudius: Bolt Pistol, CCW
Septimus: Bolt Pistol, CCW
Severus: Bolt Pistol, CCW
Gallienus: Bolt Pistol, CCW
Victorinus: Bolt Pistol, CCW
Claudius: Bolt Pistol, CCW
Tacitus: Bolt Pistol, CCW

This is a good squad.

The Venerable Seneca, Ancient of Rites(144 pts.):
Missile Launcher, Assault Cannon, Smoke Launcher, Venerable, Extra Armor, Searchlight.

Perhaps drop Venerable?

Reya Scout Squadron(113 pts.):
Sergeant Marius: Sniper Rifle
Scout(4x): Sniper rifle
Scout: Missile Launcher

Good Squad.

Descius Light-Support Squad(215 pts. Infiltrate):
Sergeant Aemilian: Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Terminator Honors,
Space Marine (8x): Bolter
Space Marine: Missile Launcher

Flavian Light-Support Squad(220 pts. Infiltrate):
Sergeant Aemilian: Bolt Pistol, Power Fist, Terminator Honors,
Space Marine (8x): Bolter
Space Marine: Missile Launcher

Honestly, I think all forms of heavy weapons belong in Devasator Squads, tactical squads are, IMO, supposed to be much more mobile, but, and with only one heavy weapon, you lose your punch very fast.

Lorinius Quick-Attack Squads (215 pts. Infiltrate):
Sergeant Clodius: Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Terminator Honors
Space Marine (8x): Bolt Pistol & CCW
Space Marine: Meltagun

Sorus Quick-Attack Squads (220 pts. Infiltrate):
Sergeant Didius: Bolt Pistol, Power Fist, Terminator Honors
Space Marine (8x): Bolt Pistol & CCW
Space Marine: Meltagun

Have you looked at the Trait: Cleanse and Purify? This would complement these two squads perfectly.

Atticus Assault Squad (262 pts.)
Sergeant Titus: Bolt Pistol, Power Fist, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack, Terminator Honors
Space Marine(7x): Bolt Pistol & CCW, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack
Space Marine (2x): Flamer, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack

This is a good squad.

Valonius Assault Squad (262 pts.)
Sergeant Otho: Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack, Terminator Honors
Space Marine(7x): Bolt Pistol & CCW, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack
Space Marine (2x): Flamer, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack

Alba Assault Squad (262 pts.)
Sergeant Nero: Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack, Terminator Honors
Space Marine(7x): Bolt Pistol & CCW, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack
Space Marine (2x): Flamer, Frag Grenades, Jump Pack

Because of their assaulty nature, Powerfists are perhaps a better choice for these guys.

Diripio Heavy Support Squad (265 pts. , Infiltrate.):
Sergeant Hadrian: Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Terminator Honors
Space Marine(6x): Bolter
Space Marine: Missile Launcher

Is this a dev. squad? if so, why only one missile launcher? Get 4!

The thunder hammer is on Adonis for a good reason. I really needed a vicious IC-of-the-enemy hunter/big tank killer, and the Thunder hammer works. Plus, if it hits the person i'm attacking, they don't strike until after I1 blows the next turn, so the initiative is never really wasted. Plus, both of these HQ's will be running with assault squads for back up, so i'm not too worried about I5. He's got a 10 man meat shield, three wounds, etc... He'll be fine. Keep in mind too he will be based off the Emperors Champion Model, so I wonder how to model certain things on it.

The teleport homer should have been moved the scout squad sergeant. Not sure why it isn't.

Assault cannons are in there for the versatile role they offer. If there were a better weapon choice, I would take it, but a heavy flamer is a little pointless, and the cyclone missile launcher too IMO. If I could find the pts. for a 6th man, I would, but I just don't see it.

I would drop Venerable from Seneca, but it's fluffy. He is the only dreadnought in Chapter History. However, i'll take a look at my builder program on the laptop and see what the dropping of it achieves.

A lot of people seem to have issues with the bolter-tac squads having missile launchers... Should I just change them back to bolt pistol & CCW, with meltaguns? Or would you guys have a better idea how to set them up maybe?

Cleanse and purify doesn't really fit the Chapter fluff. The two advantages I have: 'Take the Fight to them' and 'See, But Don't Be Seen' as well as "Flesh Over Steel' and 'We Stand Alone' all fit the Chapter background very well. But the trait is one I like. I'm a bit of a Salamander fan.

I might try to find the pts. for two more power fists on the Sergeants in the assault squads. But again, I'm at a loss as to where to gain those pts. SO far I could loose the Venerable, and perhaps loose the missile launcher on Seneca. I'll have to do some math.

The Dev squad should have like, 3 missile launchers, as I ran out of pts. for the other.

So.. Should I drop the Venerable upgrade, the missile launcher on the dread, and maybe the second ass can in favor of power fists on the assault squads, a fourth missile launcher for the devastators, and then see what pts. I got left then?

hmm...i only quickly glanced at it, but i would drop the searchlight-that's just me though. i agree with the master of weirdness on the thunder hammer. however, this IS a fluffy list and i adore fluff, so i won't say anything about it.

as for the bolter totin' tac squads, i like having heavy bolters...they are dirt cheap and effective anti-infantry. if not, then a lascannon with a plasmagun to complement it. i like having missile launchers in dev squads instead-pricey, but amazing. :]

i love the sound of this army though-you've seen my lists, infiltration is everywhere. :] i really like most of it. i thought some of the upgrades were overboard, but i'm a really conservative point spender...AND i've never written a 3k list :]

still, it's good. mind looking at my second serious army list under SM army lists as well erus ? :] thanks. if i have something else to say/remember it sometim ei'll pop by here again :]

I looked over you advice, and I think I may drop the thunder hammer. Not sure what for yet. I have to think, as I have an amazing modeling conversion for Adonis planned... Also, you'll find my own wandering ramblings on your own list.

I dropped the dreads venerable off, as well as missle launcher, as in a few mock ups it didn't do that well to justify the costs. I also dropped off the hammer on Adonis and gave him lightning claws. There is a fourth missile launcher on the devs as well.

Also, so as not to cram space... Here are the basic tactics/roles for this army.

Uses masses of Space Marines (only 1 vehicle the whole army) that infilitrate or deepstrike.

Uses assault marine heavy fast attack for flow control and flank support, as well as to be 'hammer' of the 'hammer and anvil' tactic (anvil being a well palced CC tactical squad)

Almost all are marines are assault or close combat oriented. Two tactical squads infiltrate and set up on flanks, and provide fire support with bolters and missile launchers. 3 squads infiltrate at key enemy units and or tanks and (or even just key ambush points or the like) blast to pieces with meltaguns and 20-30 attacks a round of CC, 4 or so from a power fists.

Assault squads deep strike behind the units getting hit from front by the other 3 and hit them from the back, or take out reinforcements before they reach the spot they are intending to head out to, then go with option 1.

6 man sniper squad sets up and picks off big toughness or walker vehciles w/ snipers and missile launcher.

And terminators deep strike in and plug a gap or take out a tank or heavy elite unit. These guys are kinda the 'cavalry' so to speak, there for whatever role is needed in their vicinity, and I think their setup makes them able to do this.

And there is a 10 man devastator squad to mop up slackers and help take down stubborn vehicles. With 4 missile launchers they can help clear up bunched up units as well, and the extra bolter fire makes sure to help with this.

The HQs generally go where needed due to an 18" striking range, although I will try and keep them to where the fighting is thickest, especially the Chaplain, as if he is near an assault or Quick-Attack squad, the fighting will invariably swing in my favor, though when I can I plan to try and keep him near the vets.

The dread is really supposed to draw and soak up fire, while trying to maybe pop a light vehicle or mow down a fragile but vicious (ala sniper scouts) unit. Hence why I spent little to no points on him.

The veterans fufill the same role as the HQ, in that I intend for them to be in the biggest assaults, as their mass and variety of power weapons will help push the scales for me greatly. Plus, the sheer weight of attacks, in addition to infiltrate, again assuring prime placement for those weapons to max their potential, and given the types and variety, that makes them a very nasty unit, as anything they hit will be hurting really.

you could still model him with a hammer just not THUNDER hammer

why not? counts as you know its great just making the hammer not look like a thunder and maybe if you could like a power weapon for lightning claws

maybe I'm off though
