Default Command Squad Questions

1.The specialists can select stuff fom the armoury right? well can they change their weapons?
2.If I only have the sergant and the specialists and they all have Termie honors can they have bikes along with the commander?
3.So can I have a Commander with another Marine HQ in one command squad and it will still be 1 HQ choice?

I'd like to know that too as I've been a little confused about the command squads like Calgar's honour guard and whether or not they count as an HQ choice with or without an attached commander.

1 Commands Squads do not count as an HQ choice.

2. AFAIK, if they can select from the armory they can get what they want.

3. The command squad DOES NOT have to be attached to their commander, they are simply there.

4. You CAN NOT take a command squad if you dont take a commander that has the option.

5. the sergent can give all others in the command squad termie honors, and the bonuses that go along with it so it is well worth taking it.

hope that helps.

hmm...actually i'm not so sure on that IC rule. i am pretty sure that commanders, etc. are inseparable from the command squad, unless one or the other is killed..

we had a massive argument about this about 6 months ago with a newer member [who hasn't been seen since, alas] but i am reasonably sure that models do not gain access to the armory unless the codex entry expressly says "the model has access to the armory." having termie honors only gives the combat bonuses. it's confusing, to say the least..

the command squad specialists, however, do have access to the armory, feel free to arm them :P

Alright. To settle some points.

In a Space Marine army, a Commander may lead a Command Squad, as may a Librarian or a Chaplain.

In addition, you may attach a Librarian and/or a Chaplain to a command squad, but may not take two of the same type within a single command squad, nor may two librarians be attached or two chaplains.

In short, you may have the following as a command squad, and thus as a single HQ choice:

Commander (of either rank) - Librarian (of either rank) - Chaplain (of either rank)

Librarian (higher rank) - Librarian (lower rank) - Chaplain (of either rank)

Chaplain (higher rank) - Chaplain (lower rank) - Librarian (of either rank)

Each of those three combinations of ICs is actually one HQ choice. Although it's just as expensive as it is broken, so the nerfing equalizes the cheese.

As to taking bikes. I looked it up.

In a command squad, i think you have the following:
Sergeant (who can take wargear) and 3-9 marines. But I'm not sure if the min is 3 or 4...

Anyways. IF you can have a min of 3 plus the sergeant, then yes. You can buy the entire command squad bikes or jump packs provided you keep it to a total of the ICs, the sergeant and the three specialists... But I almost think the minimum is 4 (don't have the codex right with). If the minimum is 4, then, no, you can't...

Also, check the wargear descriptions, I would almost place money on the possibility that there's some little rule saying bikes and jump packs may only be taken by independent characters...

Edit: Friend of mine confirmed, minimum is 4. Also, Commanders may lead and other HQ may be attached, but since they did not join at the start or during the game, they also may not leave the squad. They are "attached" after all...
