|  A few Combat Patrols I want to try out combat patrol and I am looking at a few lists. I dotn know what would be good in a small game. | the main rpoblem i see in each list is a real lack of numbers; list 1: 15 men + 1 light skimmer list 2: 1 IC + 12 men + 1 dedicated transport list 3: 1 IC + 10 men + 1 dedicated transport + 1 light skimmer list 4: 16 men so you typically have only 2-3 small scoring units in each list... keep in mind that all combat patrol missions are still objective based so you need scoring units to win! (remember, your IC & dedicated transports don't count!!!) for a space marine combat patrol, i'd look into scouts for sure. they're dirt cheap, (for marines anyways), and they have some rather nifty options such as assaulty weapons or sniper rifles. if you want to use skills via the traits system, stick to just 1 up-graded squad as the added pts costs really hurt in games this small! i'd also avoid taking an IC in a space marine army in combat patrol... simply put, he just eats up far too many pts and he can't claim/contest objectives. plus his death is a huge set-back as you have so little left to try and make that loss back with. cheers!

| Scouts with snipers are just as expensive as vets and more expensive than marines and dont wear power armor, so how would that be better?

still, you cant always plump for scouts with shotguns as a cheap infiltrating unit. assault 2 weapons are godly in such small games - even S3 weapons. plus, you can still charge into combat. the big selling point of scouts is that they come with infiltrate! so 5 scouts even with just bolt pistols & ccw's will only set you back 65 pts. the same number of tactical marines will cost you 90 pts... those 25 pts can mean alot in such small games! cheers!
