| Well friends, the Black Saints are beginning to be made. Adonis is actually in, but due to an un-forseen bill, i'll have to wait a bit to pick him up. The Black Saints will be a painfully slow process, as each single marine in over 120 will be personalized, etc.. These boys will be my pride and joy, and Wolfpack has inspired me to make a full Great Company out of them. In light of this, I will need an army more structured for play, etc.. So it comes down to three choices, and I want you who know me best to suggest them (yes, I am an SM player, and CSM player, and will always be so. I love the fluff.). Space Wolves - The tied most likely choice. They fit my style of play well so far given what I know of them, though some areas of their Codex I am foggy on (HQ, grey hunters required per other units, etc.. These are the things the GW army builder tells me I need.). Blood Angels - The Black Saints parent chapter, and another favorite. I am interested in them based on their old codex, and as soon as I peak at the new one, I will choose. If anyone has SEEN it (i know it should be out by now, right?), please let me know your opinion. Iron Hands - Least likely for two reasons: I will want to go conversion crazy on them (and don't have the cash to do so), and they are wholly a branch off of my tried and true playing strength: a fast, in your face close combat army the rips you to shred, while a token amount of fire support from devs and the like thins down the enemy. It has also been suggested I wait to see what the new codex brings, and mayhap play another Chaos army, but I am not sure. Certainly, this project won't be started much sooner than that. So, what do you suggest for your Lord Commander? If you think an army not mentioned here would fit me, just say so! |

| Soldaten ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First off, dont do Chaos... the new rules really blow (though they are rumors). I agree though wait for the new rules the Blood angels are coming out in the next two or three white dwarves so you dont have too long to wait. I hear their rules are going to be really really neat. I would choose blood angels just because it fits your flavor. That being run up and slice the hell out of them haha

| The Great Wolf ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I would have to agree...forget about the chaos and IWs...BA and SW are similar in tactics...run up and cut their throat type stuff...and if that doesn't work, bash them into submission with a PF and then cut their throats...(or lopp off their heads as the case may be)...of course narrowing it down to those two means waiting to see what the new dex has in store for the BA...(I wish the wolves would get a fair shake and be done sooner than 18-24 months) and just a little FYI...my personal influence on the size of my army was when the third edition SM dex came out with the full Ultras chapter laid out on the inside cover...I knew I could not hope to afford that (or have space for it)but then a Great Company seemed plausible so there ya go...

| blood angels under the new rules; - more easily controlled & more predictable as they no longer have a 'black rage' roll... (ie: your devies will now stay in place and shoot!) - faster tansports though there is a slight risk to it... - assault squads as Troops choices - combat squad rules similar to, though not as all encompassing as the dark angels. (IIRC, only assault, tactical, scout & devi squads get it) - smaller honour guard squads - overall a very agressive army that still has the basic organisation of a codex chapter... while you get losts of assault options, they're really not any better than an ultrasmurf... space wolves; - mandetory HQ's/pts level means you're forced to shell out for expensive non-scoring IC's - excel at close range fighting! grey hunters are a pain to shift as they pack lots of power toys... - true grit. - large squads of blood claws mean you can postentially outnumber your opponent in assaults. - anti-tank is limited to close ranged assault weapons, or tanks/dreads, or small 5-man long fang squads. - long fangs... expensive yet small devi squad. - wolf scouts!!! these guys are plain mean. better options than any other scout squad and they can pop up right behind your opponent's lines! well, that's the big things off the top of my head so to speak... basically if you want a truely elitest army that fights well in both shooting & assault at close range, go wolves... if you simply want to rip things apart in bloody assaults then go blood angels and max out on assault squads, veteran squads & death company. cheers!
