| Okay, the title says it all! For your information. I can get a codier (cheaper libby) w/ mastercrafted force weapon, might of heroes, and bolt pistol, as the same price as a master w/ lighting claws and termie honors. So, what are your suggestions? If a libby worth its high point cost in general? Or is it better to get a master/chaplain?

| Personally, I always go with Chaplain first because I play Blood Angels. Howerver, were I to play "normal" Marines, I think it would be a toss-up. Chaplains are really good at assault, and make their squads fearless. But Librarians can have "Veil of Time", and that power just kicks so hard. Re-rolling everything on your turn?!?!??! Awesome. I guess I would still go Chaplain, though. He's cheaper, already has the 4+ invul and power weapon, and does the whole fearless thing. Plus the entire squad he's with gets re-rolls on the charge. Make that squad an assault or terminator squad, and watch the enemy crumble.

| for me the choice is dependant on what style i want to play... if i want lots of troops with my hq offering only support, then i go for a commander for the higher Ld. (i need it seeing as i like to roll lots of 6's for Ld tests!) if i want to play a psychological warfare game on my opponent, then i most definately want a librarian! fear of the darkness and fury of the ancients border on broken when combined onto an epistolary w/familiar! slap him into the thick of the enemy and then watch half of them run off (unless of corse you're playing against 'nids or fearless armies!) if you *really* want to be truely cruel, then add in a cheap inquisitor lord as your 2nd hq and take a culexus - now watch even entire necron armies run from your 'spell of boo!' now...cheers!

| Conscript ![]() | chaplain is my fave, but what i think is great about the marine HQ choices is they all have their uses and are all worth it. the commanders ability is great in shooty armies, the chaplain great with assaulty units (i use one with 10 vets with furious charge and terminator honours and full command models - theyre unstoppable in assault!). the librarian is a great all-rounder, depending on what power you give him (almost always fear of the dark and fury of the ancients, which are both great imho. though id love to try vortex or the one that allows him multiple rerolls every turns) |
