|  Luna Wolves So i was thinking... i don't like my yellow imperial fists and i was going to convert them to DA but at closer look of the codex they arnt good or worth it at all so i was thinking of playing a Luna Wolves spearhead army Option 1 It would be a basic vanilla marine army with lysander and maxed out squads of terminators (5 in total i have about 28 terminators (1 command squad 5 men with 1 assault cannon and 1 cyclone, 1 5 men command with 1 assault cannon, 1 squad 6 men with 2 cyclone and tank hunter, 1 squad 6 men with 2 h. flamers, 1 assault squad 6 men with furious charge) Lysander represents Abbadon the rest if filled with regular marines and vet sargeants that are all individualized (special weapons power weps lightning claws combi bolters ect.) lysanders special rule represents that this is a spearhead landing and all the forces are focused here option 2 same kinda idea as above but no lysander, instead make a commander in term armor and give him a SB and Power fist (i believe that is what he had...) Option 3 Take the traits trust your battle brother for true grit and counter-attack and no mercy no respite, with the drawback Flesh over steel take mostly tactical squads assault weapons only in the squads and sergeants again are personalized... a terminator squad with a custom commander as above in option 2... if this idea takes off i will put up an army list here... soon

| I can see where you're coming, but if you use more termies then 'Abbadon' and the Justaerin honor guard, you're violating fluff for a speartip. Termies pre-heresy were incredibly, incredibly rare. I just didn't catch whether or not you were using the infamous 'lysanderwing'. I also assume Abbadon will at this point 'counts as' lysander? Thats useful, sincer he can be in any SM army over 1500 pts. However, onto some of the ideas I have had. The drawback is a bit questionable, but I think it works. If I am thinking of it's effects right. Will you be following the naming practices of the Luna Wolves (as in squad names/sarge names) and actually making the armor pre-heresy (MK 5 or older). Also, remember, though this isn't known.. Most veteran sargeants of the day had (not rules, but fluff wise) artificer armor via them mixing multiple MK suits to create the best protection. This might mean MK 2 legs (plates) as well as pauldrons, with MK 5 chest, MK 4 helmet, etc... I'd love to see this project get off the ground, and i've done considerable research (I was going to do something similair myself), so if I can be of help, please ask. It is also incredibly easy to modify everything but helmets (and even that can be done) from newer MK armor to older, since your army is ready made. |  hmmm... i am quite interested in how you convert the newer MKs to older MKs also yeah you do raise a valid point about the terminators and i believe Abbadon had a storm bolter and power fist so i am thinking i will use a regular commander for him. also it would be pretty cool to get a whole company... does anyone know how big a pre-heresy company of space marines (specifically Luna Wolves) was? finally if i do do a whole company of luna wolves i will probably do 2nd company under Torgaddon and it would be cool if other people did other companies then we could have the 40K terra Luna Wolves Chapter... or just a section of pre heresy from 40K terra

| been awhile since i borrowed some rouge trader books but IIRC, when the legions first left terra to begin the great crusade they began as 10 or so companies with each legion suposidly totaling roughly 10,000 warriors. from there the company size began to vary widely from legion to legion as the primarchs began shaping them to their will and combat casulties & recruitment took place... so basically, i don't think there really was a true format that was used. each individual primarch organised their legion's warriors as they saw fit! hope this helps, cheers!

| Luna Wolves would be roughly.... Hmmm.... IIRC, about 25K. I will be doing a pre-heresy Blood Angels army, hopefully with Sanguinius to lead them! The modifying of marks is eays enough, well to MK 5 anyway. Simply file off appropriate iconography, to where you can use greenstuff to make the segmented coin in the chest. Then, you can leave is as be (some chests with wings can have the wings left on, gives a nice flair), or add the sash type straps. I'll have to look up my old pre-heresy guide to see specifics. I did have how to make every MK of armor mapped out, if I can find it. >.< |

| Here Are some of my early Luna Wolves... there is no chapter symbol yet because i am not a very good free hander so i am going to practice a bit before i try the symbol... (PS they are based on Index Astartes and the Horus heresy books so they are white and black...)

| well, have you seen dave taylor's adeptus custodes on the US gw site? he converted at least marine for each mk of power from mk1 - mk6! his army was also featured in WD300 as well... if you've got a hobbytown shop close by, they are supposed to sell small brass ship building pins which is what dave used for all the earlier mk shoulder pads and such. you can also order a buttload of mk5 chestplates off of battlewagon bitz too! cheers!

| hmm i also believe that you can order the bitz out of the catalouge. let me check...yep all the way from mk1 to mk6 i must say though i like mk2 the best. gives a tin man or knightly look to them |

| sorry it took me a while to get back to this... thanks for all the tips... ironically dave taylor goes and runs my gaming club up here at the maryland battle bunker. hopefully i will be pumping out some luna wolves soon
