If you're shooting for a 500 point list, take a marine from the squad with the missile launcher and add a marine to the squad with the plasma gun, for scoring purposes.

it might be worth tweaking the dread a bit. in a game this size you won't see many vehicles with high av, so a lascannon would be overkill. maybe an asscan?

I change the dreadnougt to have a heavy flamer and extra armor.

Edit: Crap. Librarian should be 170 points, not 145, because of Iron Halo. Should I just remove the Iron Halo?

the heavy flamer is an addon for the ccw arm, you still need a right arm weapon. and yeah, downgrade the libby a touch as he's a bit too loaded for such a small game.

unless you really want the libby I would seriously suggest switching him out for a chaplain or commander. the cheaper chaplain, with bolt pistol, crozius, rosarius and termie honors is only 101 points! sure you don't get a force weapon or pychic powers, but you get 5 attacks BASE for that model... and a 4+ inv. save.

A captain gives all your marines LD9, a master LD10. Those are very nice.

Libbys IHMO are a bit over powered. Honestly if you want one I think the best way to run one is just a basic cheapy one w/ a bolt pistol and maybe a familar... otherwise they get very expsenive very fast.

yea smoke launchers are a must ! especially since dreads are slowwww walker dudes :]
i have to agree with masterofweirdness though, i just never really felt a connection with libbies. unless you a. really want to use him, or b. have the model and thus want to use him, haha both of which are viable options, then i would personally change to either the cheaper librarian or just to a different HQ. :]
cheers !

Are librarians the ones with the Mindworm pyschic power? I gotta a little taste of that my last battle, and I did not like it! (nor did the Terminator it killed!)

Mindworm? Wait... that power doesn't sound like one that the normal SM codex has...

Mindwar is an eldar power however.

I'm not saying that libby aren't any good... its just that they are expesnive and not amazing in small point battles.

Well, it was my friend's Dark Angels who used it on me. Might have been one of his Independent Characters. If I'm not mistaken, it came from a Command Squad.

I chose libby becaues I heard that they were good. Besides, what else would I spend 40 pts. on if I had a Chaplain?

Chaplain (cheaper one) - Crozius, Rosarius, Bolt Pistol, Termie Honors - 101 pts

Dreadnought - Assault Cannon, Heavy Flamer, Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers - 123pts

Tactical squad x 10 - Bolters, Plasma Guns - total of 160pts

Tactical squad x 8 - Bolters - 120 pts

Hmm... that's what I came up with... you could switch it up a bit, maybe trade some marines for marines... or you could get a squad of scouts... which are cheaper and better for close combat...

I would use the Dreadnought for CC, then the snipers could take out infantry.

Is this too radical? Or is it a good list?

@ Dragoon King: Mindworm is Grandmaster Ezekiel's psychic power. He is the only unit in the game that can use it. I field him in all my my games that are 1500 points or more. It's a great character killer.

I would say that this is a very good list... its not to standard either... just one more suggestion... put the plasma gun tactical squad as a command squad, and give them all CC+BP so that your chaplain has some more OFMP. You can get CC marines by buying the blood claw boxed set, just get rid of all the space wolf junk... or keep it later for conversions and the like!

Yup, I guess it was him then. It's a pretty nasty power if it hits. Turned one of my termies into a gibbering idiot!

The Dread sounds real nasty. Also, you might wanna put a heavy bolter in the tac squad instead of Missile Launcher, but that's just me. I never seem to hit with the darn things.

Also for the Command Squad, can I use the sprues from the Assault squad? It would be cheaper than buying two whole boxes.
