BSG. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | okay, i realize that 800 points is nothing, i really do. i just wanted to write up a list and get a feel for a divergent army like this one: chapter traits: heed the wisdom of the ancients [dreads in DPs to come later] be swift as the wind drawbacks: flesh over steel, have faith in suspicion HQ: captain on-a-bike, power fist & bolt pistol HQ Total: 116 troops: bike squad 1: [5 bikes, one attack bike] plasmagun attack bike with HB total: 220 bike squad 2: [5 bikes, 1 attack bike] plasmagun attack bike with HB total: 220 scout squad 1: 8 scouts HB total: 109 scout squad 2: 8 scouts HB total: 109 TROOPS TOTAL: 658 fast attack: land speeder tornado multi-melta/flamer total: 75 FAST ATTACK TOTAL: 75 799 points. 16 scouts 11 bikes, 2 attack bikes 1 land speeder thoughts? ideas? again, this is just a test list to get my army list juices flowing, lol. and by the way, i'm pretty sure i'll take this army after marines. i've considered several IG armies, iron warriors, night lords, alpha legion, lysanderwing, and even black templars but for me, nothing beats DIY marines...lol :] -ant

| You should paint the Cpatain black and white and have a fair young maiden ride on the back... Anyway, this looks interesting. Close-ranged tank-busting. I would make the scouts your support units. Take out two in each squad and grab sniper rifles or heavy bolters or something like that. Maybe one with snipers and one with H bolter?

| 800 points... no offense, but why that number? Anyways, the only thing I can see, is you need to drop the P. fist on the captain... get a power weapon instead. P. fists are MADE for vet. sarges, or perhaps a Chaplain. Numbers are a problem, but then again, its a bike army... And I agree on the need for sniper scouts... aswome unit... especially against MCs.

as for numbers, i'm trying to fill out with scouts and maybe a vet squad, because both of them can infiltrate [and that goes along quite nicely with my chapter fluff...lots of infiltrators, everywhere..haha] scouts for now are going to be meat shields [even though according to chapter fluff they, like space wolf scouts, are revered as master scouters] while i turbo boost up to the front lines. the scouts will also [hopefully] whittle down infantry squads while before bikes can get there, so the bikes won't be utterly torn apart so fast. hmm...maybe i'll just add in the last 200 points, to make it a 1000 point army...hmm...excuse me while i think about potential units :] -ant

| Not a bad start.. But what about the advantage that would let you take scout bikers? I wouldn't take it, as I like my 6 man scout squad w/ 5 snipers and rocket launcher, but yours might benefit from it.Other than that, only a termie or vet. sarge, or an IC with a beefy retinue, has buisness taking a powet fist. Lightning claw or power weapon is my suggestion! |

BSG. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | oh yea. and so i'm wondering...lightning claws on a biker? doesn't that seem kind of awkward? any ideas on how to model this? i have thought of attachments on the sides of bikes to hold lightning claws, and whenever the commander needs them he can just reach his hands in like gloves or something..eh? i'm still thinking about what to put in to boost the list up to 1000 :] -ant

| Corporal ![]() | Why not paint your army black and play ravenwing? I think it would suit your style. And you wouldn't need those pesky scouts. I'd also recomend making your tornado a HB/AC speeder as it is just plain better. You probably have the leftovers anyway.

| Ravenwing are cool and all, but everyone is going to be playing Dark Angels. Making your own chapter is more fun anyway. I think you should stick to it. Not trying to be argumentative, and I'll probably be doing Dark Angels of one form or another at some point, but yeah. You get major creativity points if you have a custom chapter.

BSG. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well, to answer all of the above, i don't like ravenwing that much. i feel that it's too restrictive, and plus i'd need to get the DA codex..haha the reason i have the army set up with heed the wisdom of the ancients is because i wanted the dreads to be remains of my chapter, half of which was completely decimated. my chapter also functions in a way similar to DA, as part of the chapter is infantry only [for initiates & vets to train together] while other companies are bikes/fast attack. the remnants of my decimated company are reformed into new companies while the barely surviving and still willing/able to fight are put into dreads, that's why i have the dreads. while the list, in game terms is different from my all infantry chapter [which has see but don't be seen and cleanse & purify, as well as flesh over steel and have faith in suspicion] but in terms of appearance it is the same, as the scouts and any other infantry will still infiltrate, which is central to my chapter's fluff. and i think people really do go for new codices. lol when tau came out...dang i'd never seen so many devilfishes in my life. haha yea. :] -ant
