   |  Ultra Marines Ultra Marines had a shoulder marking of blood drops,this was seen along time ago in whit dwarf #96 or something like that.Does anyone know anything about the blood drops,or where i could help him find out? |

Blog Entries: 1 | well, back in the old days the image for space marines, and everything else in the hobby, wasn't as developed as it is now. over time the fluff was refined into what we know now and as that happened certain images became associated with certain forces. in your example, early marines displayed a variety of markings which over time came to represent the different legions seperatly, so the omega symbol became the ultramarines badge while the blood drop was more linked to blood angels.

Blog Entries: 1 | Indeed, originally there were no specific Chapter markings, you could choose which you wanted to use. Yet now, that has been refined. I suppose it's a good thing, it keeps true to the idea of Chapters.. but in a way, different markings gave your army a sense of individuality. Meh. =p

| I thought about that to but,On the shoulder pad there was the UM U and down to one of the sides there was the 1-2or3 blood drops.I kinda figured it was like a specific battle badge or a unit marking.I just had to check. |

| Yea do what you wanna man!! The Ultras (which I love!!) are a very regimented force. They MUST all look the same (within reason!!). But they are OLD as a chapter so you will have LOADS of slight variants in armor markings and the such. Keeping with the fluff You CAN make them as markings or say your a Ultra divergence chapter,not true ultras but desended from them. good luck with it!!
