| Lieutenant ![]() | Just as the topic says, what is it about space marines that draws you to play them? I am just wondering if others feel the same way that I do. I play Space Marines because they are humanities greatest heros. Just the thought of what a space marine IS makes me play them. So, why do you all play space marines?

Come on, they follow a half corpse. Little or no free will. I'd rather die for personal power than for some rotting figurehead and eww, humanity! Of course, just in game terms.

Ok, I won't badmouth the Imperium anymore. They are the second coolest armies. Well, Imperial Guard just seem like run of the mill warriors, more numbers than skill, not elite fighting units like SM or CSM. I give one edge to you loyalists, discipline. I dislike all alien races, especially Eldar and Dark Eldar. Too sissy looking. Necrons look cool, but I just don't like the mindless drone thing, same goes for nids. I kinda like the nids, especially there genetic adaptability, just wouldn't play em. Orks are ok, but rely on brute strength rather than tactical ability. Not to say they aren't cunning. Did I leave anyone out?![]()

Blog Entries: 1 | Cause they aren't the other guys! Shooty pansies, Tau. Why do I like CSM? Hmmm. Superhuman warriors enhanced by dark powers! Freedom, of sorts. They seem to me the only race in the 40k universe who choose their own fate (although noone wants to be a gibbery spawn!). I like their versatility in game terms, especially Black Legion. Bezerks for CC, 1kSons for shooty death (I prefer up close and personal), Death Guard for digging in, Slaanesh for nice midrange shooting and quick assaults. Not to mention most SM vehicles, freakin Oblits, and Daemons (I don't use em yet, but soon!) 5 man LC termie squads that can all be Aspiring Champs, versatile Chosen, and cool special characters. What's not to love?

| Come on you gotta love nids DK!! I mean sure they're emotionless eating michines, but.. um.. hm... dang man you got a point there. You just have to get a little more creative or get over it I guess. Man, now you make me think that I just might have to have chaos as my second army. I wasn't really thinking about that yet. Oh well, that'll be a while anyways.

SM definitely drew me for the fluff. i didn't start playing until almost 3 years into the hobby [aka, like a few months previous] and before then it was ALL about the fluff and the conversions. i love converting them, they're so easy to make dynamic [with the exception of scouts, those flat-torsoed wierdos, lol] and easy to convert. easy to learn, play, make mistakes with, AND FLEXIBLE army list design. what's not to like ? :P

| Lord Commander Militant ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I love my Black Templars b/c of their stong Crusade influence. I really enjoy the history of the Crusades and the Knightly Orders that took part in them, Specifically the Teutonic Knights/Knights Templar/Hospitallers. Space Marines are also just overall kickass. I mean they are supposed to be Humanities heroes which is pretty cool as well. I'm also a hardcore Imperial so how could I not have some Marines. The models are also very very cool. BvL

| Its the fluff what a human has to go through to become a Marine is just WOW the armour, the holy bolter and in game terms The stat line, leadership and the most imprtant thing "And They Shall Know No Fear" who else is gonna regroup below 50% only bonded tau right? and orks of you make a MOB check not even CSM "ATSKNF" is the single strongest special rule in the game and only one group has it Imperial Space Marines

| space marines, both loyalist and chaos, are just, by far, the coolest army in the game. I've looked at a lot of them... tau, IG, SM, CSM, nids, Necrons, Eldar... DH... none of them are as cool. IG... while I love horde armies, I really do prefer 'leetness of marines... Tau... pansy ranged dudes... sorry, don't like the idea. at all. nids... okay, I admit, NIDS ROCK! but fluff-wise... its very hard to make up your own characters... which sucks... badly. Necrons... really, same as above, I love their codex, but as for creating a proper army out of them... nope... maybe a small-side project, but other than that... nope. Eldar... I dunno... I just don't like them... nothing wrong with them, I just don't like them. Daemon hunters... okay, the GK rock, inquistors rock, and the idea of a a inquistor leading a company of Imperial Guardsmen, to me, is sooo cool. But, while I will include a Inquistor and a coolio retinue into my army at a later date... as a full-time army, I couldn't do it at all... sorry.

Blog Entries: 1 | I like Power Armor. Makes basic troops are tough to kill. Then you throw in Terminators (My fave) which can be real nasty (although I learned my lesson about bunching them up by a Plasma Cannon that wiped out 6 in one shot. Ouch.). Oblits are the best heavy troops in the game, I think. The all mighty Land Raider. Some say they are useless and a waste of points. I disagree. I have seen them absorb amazing punishment and still get the job done. Then you have Assault Marines and Raptors. Fast moving and packing a punch, and versatile.
