All in All he's uber badass.

Cons: Mandatory Vow, no wargear options, no invulnerable save. Again, I may be missing some things...
I don't consider his "Mandatory for 750pts and +" rule a con, because I always like to take him anyway.
Hell if he was a normal character like the rest of them (commander/chaplain) i'd take 2!

Edit:
argh tpyos galore.
Actually he has a 4+ invulnerable.
I also always use him. He can kill a warboss in single combat in just a turn or two.

the champs main weakness in my mind is his measly 2A... he's really little more than an ultra expensive veteran sergeant with WS6!

his vow can make-up for it, but i wish they'd dropped the mandetory artificer armour as he rarely gets any benifit from it! (he's either losing it through the mixed armour rules or else he's typically fighting enemies who ignore his armour save anyways!)

but then, the templars are somewhat under-powered IMHO...

cheers!

I'm a blood claw at heart when I visit the fang. Hard, cold and fast. Obliterate the enemy in a torrent of fury before they even know you've arrived.

No
an automatic backscratcher is.
But jump packs are SECOND best.

Oh yeah and i love to field special characters too. Why? because even with all the drawbacks like cost and fixed-gear, they are AWESOME on the field and LOOK AWESOME!

LOL. so according to your logic, shrike and dante are the BEST looking special characters ? :P

haha. i'd say jump packs were really amazing, both in terms of looks and in game, but i think that a servo-harness is pretty darn cool...and can scratch backs...

An Iron Hands Tech-Marine, if taken as HQ, can have jump pack AND servo-harness. hahahaha.

Chaplain for the win! Hands down the built in inv. save and power weapon are mint. Add a jump pack, a bolt pistol or a powerfist (if you are feeling a little evil), and attach him to an assault squad and watch the vermin scurry and die.
