Default DuskRaider's Death Guard Paint Tutorial

Hello Everyone,
Well here we go. Here's a tutorial on how to paint your Death Guard as I do mine. Realize that each of these steps is important and does contribute to the end product. I'm sure there are some of you out there that may find some steps unnecessary... trust me, I've experimented, tested, failed and finally succeeded with what you see here. This will be broken down into a few posts to make it easier, and I won't have all up right now... but trust me I WILL get it all on here. So without further delay, here you are:

STEP 1: I'm going to assume you've already primed your mini. I use exclusively black as my primer, I find it brings out the dark and bleak feel of Chaos. Step One is a basecoat! I go VERY light with Bleached Bone. It's ok if it's not all even... in fact I encourage it! It'll make it look unique, and will effect how the inking turns out.

STEP 2: This is your first of MANY ink coatings, done in Flesh Wash. Make sure it's thin enough where it does not completely brown your Bleached Bone, but enough to get into the crevices.

STEP 3: Next ink coating, use Brown Ink. Be sure your Flesh Wash coat is dried first, otherwise it doesn't show as well. At this point, the grimy look of your Plague Marine is starting to show.

STEP 4: Once your Brown Ink coat has dried, apply a lighter coating of Black Ink. This should mainly show up in the cracks and folds of the mini, which really goes well with the other two.

STEP 5: Now that all your inks are dry, apply a drybrushing of Bleached Bone.

STEP 6: Start picking out your green trim and details. I use Reaper Miniatures Olive, but I'm sure Citadel Catachan Green can be used as well.

STEP 7: Apply another Flesh Wash coat, VERY light. Make sure you use it on the green trim as well.

STEP 8: Stipple Bleached Bone on each armor component, while still wet, blend into the armor and ink edges.

STEP 9: This is the LAST Flesh Wash... this is done to give a brown hue, or tint, to the blending you did, and make it really work.

STEP 10: Pick out details such as skulls, horns, and such in Bleached Bone... I wait until I'm finished the armor to start on small things such as this.

STEP 11: Apply a light coat of Yellow Ink to your bone pieces. This gives them a realistic yellowed appearance.

And I'm stopping here! This is as far as I got tonight, and I'm exhausted. I'll pick up where I left off tomorrow!

Thanks for the words guys, I appreciate it!

Alright, here's the last two steps... I've decided to do a Rust Tutorial in another thread.

STEP 12: Once Yellow Ink dries on horns/skulls, add a light Flesh Wash to the base of the horns.

STEP 13: When the Flesh Wash dries, lightly drybrush the tips of the horns Bleached Bone. You should get a nice, natural looking fade.

Other things: As I've said before, the pustules... Those have already been dabbed with Buckskin, which is a very very light yellow, almost white. After this, add Flesh Wash to them, it will mainly go around the base of them, in between them, and maybe even some on the armor... THIS IS FINE! It gives them a weepy, leaking feel. Once the Flesh Wash dries, I use Reaper Miniatures Ivory, and with a toothpick, I add a head to each pustule.
