Blog Entries: 1 | hey all, this maybe something simple but it has had pretty good results for me. with my 1000 sons i do ALOT of gold trim. however i initially ran into having to do bunch of coats of the gold to get a solid layer of it that didnt have the under color showing thru. what i found helps best to do the first layer not with gold but with either beaten cooper or tin bitz (i use the apple barrel equivilents lately same effect). only a single layer of one of these when dry works great for giving gold all the more power. with the metalics from the cooper or tin bitz showing thru under the gold it just increases the gold effect. i'll try to edit this later with a couple pics of the stages. i've got some guys i'm working on that i can show it with.

Blog Entries: 1 | ok. here is a guy i did a while ago (geez i think 1-2 years ago )![]() here's a guy i did just a few minutes ago ![]() the stages: ![]() i use a metalic enamel spray paint for the base so it takes more than doing it on a flat acryllic base (which is what i use on othe models). basically once the base is dry i come back and do 1 coat of cooper on all the areas that i want to trim out with gold. after that dries i come back and do just a single coat with gold. and there you go. simple. i've also done this on my dreads and rhinos for this army. and i've done it with my iw land raider which used a flat black acryllic and it still looks MUCH better than just doing gold. now the old and new together. ![]()
