Default Painting Tutorial: Purple power armour

ok, so i knowced this up for another member a little while ago, thought maybe you might find some use for it too. apologies for the shoddy photography.

ok first up heres the colours i used; chaos black, regal blue, liche purple, bleached bone, shining gold, boltgun metal and brown ink. the chaos black was just used for the undercoat but if you wanna spray coat it thats cool. remember to add a little water to your paint and to clean your brush every few minutes.

start with a base coat of regal blue, kinda like this...

at this stage you don't need to worry about being careful, jus get the paint on there!

once thats dry, mix up a batch of 2:1 liche purple:regal blue and go over most of the base coat, only leaving the dark blue in the deepest recesses. something like this...

i know it doesn't look a lot different but trust me its a needed step. when that coat is dry whip up some 4:1 liche purple:regal blue and take this to half the area of the last coat, sticking as much to the upper half as pos, or painting a narrow brush width next to the gold things (brain...crashing!!!). this is your first highlight...

the second highlight is pure liche purple and goes on the very edges of the armour plates and as an even thinner line next to the gold thingies...

you could leave the armour there if you want and it'll look pretty damn cool, but to really make it pop mix up a bit of bleached bone with some liche purple (not much bleached bone is needed, probably 4:1 purple:bone) and hit small parts or the corners of the armour edges and if you're feeling brave/steady handed a really thin line on top of the thin line next to the gold thingies ...

phew...that was hard work. fun though.
