Blog Entries: 1 | yo to you all been some time since i last got a tut up so bear with me if i'm a bit rusty ![]() ![]() just wanted to show y'all how i go about getting a really deep red like that. as always, the first piece of advice is water your paints. i'll keep saying it till it sinks in! for this process you'll need the following colours; chaos black, scab red/crimson gore, dwarf flesh (yes really!), red ink and brown ink. start with an even black undercoat. if you use spray the a thin coat of chaos black (and i do mean thin!) will help get rid of the chalkiness. for the base coat mix up some of your chosen red (i used scab red) with a small amount of chaos black. i forgot to measure it out but i suppose about 4:1 should be about right. paint this on around the edges of the armour plates in a fairly thick line. ![]() (it's difficult to make out in this pic) next up, pure red layered onto about half the area of the last coat. ![]() now mix in some dwarf flesh to the red and give the armour plates a hard edge highlight. ![]() right about now you'll probably be thinking that i looks a little pink, and you'd be dead right! we gonna sort that out with the inks. a 1:1 mix of red and brown inks will bring the colour back to ''berzerker'' and away from ''noise marine''! it'll also blend the layers together a bit, which is good.![]() hope you found this helpful and informative ![]()

Blog Entries: 5 | +rep for you hairy! also a tip on red i found from a "pro" well at least he is good as hell IMO. put some orange soda (he called it IRN BRU) in the red, just a drop. to thin it instead of water. it makes it brighter... perhaps i should do my own tut.... good job though hairy. SBE: what a completely random area for the mention of Irn Bru, I love it!

Blog Entries: 1 | I'm just wondering if this will work on Abbadon's cape, Hairy. I want it to be a very dark, deep red, even darker near the folds.

Blog Entries: 1 | Dk; yes this should work for the cape. ides; chestnut ink does work but brown works much better. purple ink works nicely too but the final effect will be a bit different. erus; to get this deep red all over just extend the red/black mix to cover the entire armour plate and add another highlight stage of red and the tiniest drop of dwarf flesh right after the main red coat. clear as mud right? i'll try to get something up to this effect later.
