   |  From battle tank to exterminator...or better known as changing the guns Part 1 OK guys...here it is...how to make a Leman Russ Battle tank useable in yer Space Wolf Army... I picked up one of the Russ models for $10 bucks off and as the Exterminator model was $12 bucks more I had an idea...and a use for a bunch of those bits... First I cut off the Battle cannon from the coweling piece and filed it smooth, then glued a small square of plascard over the hole. Next I cut and glued the two halves of the Autocannons from the new pred kits (these were in my bitz box I have 5 preds remember?) and added two small strips of sprue from the Russ kit for supports... so here's what it looks like at this point...    Next cut the scanner cowling from the new bit...the one that sits next to the Autocannon on the turret bit...  Then cut the piece across just behind the pin on the underside...  Then cut the center peice about two millimeters on either side of the pin...and you have this...  Now take the sensor cowlings and mount them to either side of the guns...a little sanding is required to get the fit right and glue the center piece from the above pic in between...again a little careful sanding is required to get the fit flush...

| From battle tank to exterminator...or better know as changing the guns Part 2 Now I used putty to fill the smaller voids and green stuff to close in the guns and get it ready for the cloth cowling I am going to install...      I also took the liberty of carefullt cuttin off the sensor bits from the face plate and fastened them between the gun barrells using GS...   and now yer lookin down the barrels of a Leman Russ Exterminator of the Space wolves...or soon to be...LOL  Now for the sanding and I'll mount the cloth cowling (yes am using real cloth) to the edges of the gun port and the base of the gun mount...further pics forthcoming...watch for them...

| OK...here is my dilema...the cloth I was gonna use is too heavy so I need a suitable substitute for it..was thinkin about something like a tight weave gauze or perhaps some light cotton...the piece is roughly gonna measure 1 cm wide and 2.5 cm long...and it must be flexible enough not to interfere with the elevation of the gun... on another note...finished the sanding and will be postin picks here in a lil bit...gotta go feed the horse and stuff outside...

| I've never tried to add cloth to a tank, but if I were you I'd use some cotton. It's light and flexible enough to do want you want it to. Hope that helps

| OK so here is the tank mid construction...yes I primer before I build...keeps all the little nooks and crannies paintable...uses a lil more primer but what the hell...    I haven't put the cowling on as yet...am going to dry fit it in place then piant the vehicle and add the cowling last...this way I don't have to worry about getting paint all over it

| Yes actually...have three pelts and a set of the old style BC biker penants I am gonna mount on whips from the rear deck...of course am going to modify/paint the LF's design onto the penants using appropriate colors...and am thinkin I will mag the whips so that they don't get damaged during storage and transport...a simple matter of small mags in the Antennea bases and on the rear deck to either side of the engine cover... After all what is a command vehicle without penants...
