Pre-Heresy Jump-pack Tutorial - 40K Terra

Ok, I didn't like some other tutorials that made you spend hours working on one pack. so I made my own using parts from other miniatures. All work was done in the space of 10 minutes.

These are quick and easy Pre-Heresy jump-packs.

Items needed, just two.

The turbofans themselves are from a miniature called a "Yasha VTOL" from the Mechwarrior line of Collectible Miniatures Games, you can look around on MWRealms.com or Ebay for them. (Don't worry they are cheap....probably less then .50 each)

First thing is first separate the exhausts from the backpack and the Turbofans from the VTOL

next you'll want to clip off the small wings on the fans, if you dig in deep then fill it in with greenstuff.

Put some kind of spacer (plasticard for most people, I used some extra parts from other Mechwarrior models) to where the ports used to be

Then simply glue the fans on and there you go, cheap simple jumppacks in 10 minutes flat. Here's some blue tacked pictures of what it would look like together

Might have to try that on a veteran assault marine sergeant, since they'd have snazzy wargear anyway.

I really like it well done. The only thing is that its going to be hard for either me or other gamers to get that bit that you got from another game. Also I dont know how keen GW is when using other model bits....

They're actually pretty easy to get as Mechwarrior is a CMG, and therefor just like trading cards you get a lot of commons. Most people don't want the Yasha and sell them off.

As for GW, don't models have to be over 75% GW parts to be tourney legal? Besides I believe if you read their IP that its technically infringement to modify a miniature in any way or post pictures of them without stating that it's posted without permission from GW.

Nice. I don't fancy Mechwarrior miniatures, but this is good way to go for Pre-heresy jetpacks. (Alternative is ebay of course lol)

Pre-heresy Black Templars don't exist, so I wont be using this any time soon... unless I just say that normal jetpacks are too plain and ugly :P

And you can just SAY that you greenstuffed + plasticarded it as your own conversions. GW can't cut up your model to check for greenstuff.

And the strictest rules on using other IP's bits is in Golden Daemon, so don't worry about it too much.

Tis is really cool. I ebayed it and it looks about $3.50 ($1 for the part and $2.50 shipping) for one BUT the seller does combine shipping. I found onw in Quebec for $.89 but International shipping would kill me!! I might try the plasticard in Erus's post or just stick with the GW metal turbofan packs I have. I have about 50-60 so I should have enough to do the Leigion of the Damned guys......
